Make sure you drink all your water every day! Aim for at least 2.25 litres.
Drinking water is essential for a healthy body, whether you're on a diet or not.
Why is it important when you are on The 1:1 Diet? Well our products give you balanced nutrition but in a very concentrated form. If you're having Ready to Drink shakes, you should drink 250ml or half a pint of water with each one. Drinking lots of water will compensate for the fluid that you normally take in through food. Without it, you could become dehydrated, and that leads to headaches, dizziness, tiredness, irritability and constipation. Ugh! Go grab some water now! ๐ง๐ง๐ง

So Santa wouldnโt trip,
Refused to eat like Rudolph,

I tucked into the Turkey,
I filled that plate of mine.
โ๏ธI scoffed a Gammon sandwich,

My hubby revealed the cheese board,
I sat there beady eyed.

Tis the day after Boxing Day and the turkey's in tatters,
It's now time to face up to what matters,
As fun as it was the date on the clock,
Said to take out the scales and prepare for a shock,
So I reached for a packet~ Choc mint my fave,
Added some water and a good shake I gave,
And as it goes down I hear myself sigh~
I'm right back on track, that I cannot deny,
Although it's been fun~my weight really does matter,
I must check my thinking or I will get fatter,
I've watched my sister, who is permanently thin,
She refused cake and put the lid on the tin,
My hubby is out running already this day,
That's how he keeps his spare tyre far away,
If you watch other people they intervene quick,
It's not magic you know, it's not even a trick.
Maintaining your figure means a bit of hard graft,
To get rid of those pounds that stick to your ass,
So I swallow my shake and drink all my water,
And get back on plan like I know I oughta.
It's worth it I know, to wear what I want,
Not to look in the cupboard and see what I can't.
And as life moves on and the New Year arrives,
I can look back at Christmas and say I survived!
I've drunk all my shake now and feel really proud,
I'm losing those pounds, I can shout it out loud!
So here's to my comrades with The 1:1 Diet
Trust me, it's worth it, I cannot deny it!

Tips for cutting the calorie content of your Christmas dinner without really noticing:
- If youโre having turkey as your main course, then stick to the white breast meat, which contains less fat than the browner meat. Flavour it with herbs and lemon juice and cut down on salt when you season it.
- Much as we all love 'em, go easy on the pigs in blankets. As well as saturated fat, these contain a lot of salt.
- Load up half your plate with veg, so that this makes up a good proportion of your meal.
- Try honeyed carrots, braised red cabbage and traditional brussels sprouts to increase fibre. Remember: the more colourful your plate, the more varied your range of health-giving nutrients will be.
- Opt for boiled instead of roast potatoes.
- Use skimmed milk to make custard as an accompaniment to your pudding, rather than using cream, ice cream or brandy butter.
- Try a fruit platter for dessert in place of a pudding.
- A boozy fruit compote with half-fat crรจme fraiche would make a healthy yet decadent sweet. Try plums, berries, apples and sultanas stewed in red wine, vanilla and a little bit of sugar.
- Pile up your cheese-board with strong-tasting cheese, as you will be satisfied with smaller amounts.
- Drink plenty of non-alcoholic liquid throughout the day. This will stop you mistaking thirst for hunger, as well as dilute your alcohol intake.
- Avoid alcohol before eating. Drinking alcohol on an empty stomach will speed up its entry into your bloodstream, and also act as appetite stimulant which may encourage you to overeat.
- Feel free to enjoy a guilt-free glass of red wine with your meal, as alcohol increases iron absorption.
- Go for a brisk walk when you get a chance. This will boost your metabolism in preparation for the next feast!
But most of all, ENJOY it! It's only one day, and you can get straight back on plan tomorrow!

Always make a Christmas food shop list, take it with you when you do your "big shop", and STICK TO IT!
I have a list saved on my computer that I print out and use every year.
That way I am less tempted by all the BOGOF and 3 for 2 offers that you see in the supermarkets (have you noticed that these offers are never on healthy fruit and vegetables or staples that we buy every day, only "bad foods"?)
It's only one day - trust me, you don't need 2 24 pack multipacks of crispsโค๏ธ

Fancy a guilt-free treat?
How about a glass of on-plan Baileys?
Pop a Latte Shake 'N' Go in the fridge. In a separate glass, dissolve a spoonful (to taste) of Beanies Irish Coffee granules in a small amount of water, then pour over the Shake. ๏ฟผ
Mix, add a few ice cubes and enjoy!

We love to have those Christmas tree shaped bowls full of festive treats lying around, but do you keep a count of exactly what you are eating?
Each wrapped chocolate contains around 40 calories, so when you see the pile of brightly coloured wrappers mounting up by your elbow, count up the wrappers and multiply by 40!
And then for every 133 calories (approximately 3 1/2 chocolates), go on a 1 mile jog to burn them off! Makes you think, doesn't it?!

We all have friends and relatives who like to ensure that everyone is well fed and has a full glass in their hand, but there is no need to feel guilty by refusing that mince pie or second glass of wine. Try the following responses when offered a sweet treat whilst on plan:
1. "No, thank you".
Itโs not an excuse. Itโs not a lie. Itโs not a long-winded explanation of why you hate Christmas cake. "No, thank youโ is a simple way to decline food that doesnโt leave much room for discussion or future arguments because youโre being straightforward. Plus, thereโs not much chance for misinterpretation.
2. "Everything looks delicious, but Iโm good right now"
Whether or not everything does look delicious, everyone loves a compliment, especially when it comes to something as personal as food.
3." Iโm Trying To Eat Healthier."
Keeping it honest can be the best answer sometimes!
4. "Iโll Try Some Later."
It can be hard to say no when your coworker is offering up her signature sherry trifle. Telling her that youโll come back for a taste later likely wonโt offend her as much as refusing would.
And no-one should really be questionning someone's reasons for not drinking alcohol, but being the designated driver, or telling then that you are on medication are the two easiest get-outs!

Shops often stock Christmas foods months before the festive season. It can be tempting to take advantage of offers, but ask yourself โ if you buy it now, will it last until Christmas? Or are you likely to get tempted and tuck in before?!
Speaking from experience, I know that I just donโt have the willpower to resist the mince pies, yule logs and the obligatory family sized tin of Quality Street, so I leave it as late as possible to purchase these items, so that they are not in the house for too long.

We all love to snuggle up with our families to watch a Christmas movie! Movie, PJ's, snacks.... But what to do when you're sticking to plan over the festive period? Well, there's no need to feel you are missing out.
Why not cut up your favourite 1:1 Bar into little pieces and use them to snack on? The Festive Bar is ideal! Try pairing this with a glass of hot on-plan mulled wine (you will find the recipe on this page).
And don't forget the Fava Beans too, available in Sour Cream & Chive, Chilli & Lime and Salt and vinegar!

There's nothing like a bit of energetic dancing to burn off those excess calories! In any normal year we would have plenty or opportunities to party - works "do's", club Christmas parties, trophy ceremonies and discos, etc.
This year will be very different.
So get the radio on and boogie around the kitchen to some Christmas tunes instead! Hopefully we will have returned to normality by this time next year!

๐The days between Christmas and New Year are a great time to get out for a walk with the family, and whatโs not to like about walking?
๐Itโs easy to do, and itโs easy on the joints. And thereโs no question that walking is good for you. It will help you to burn off all those excess calories and get your heart pumping. You may even discover new places that you didn't know existed close to your home!
๐So, drag the kids away from the screens, wrap up warm, grab the dog lead and get walking this Christmas!

Itโs so chilly.. what better way to keep warm than a nice hot mug of guilt-free mulled wine?!
๐ท
Here's what you need to do -
Add cloves and a cinnamon stick to hot 1:1 Diet Raspberry and Elderflower water flavouring. ๐ท
Also you can use mulled wine spice bags, which are just like tea bags and you can stew and throw away...Both delicious and warming ๐ท
Thank you Ellie Russell for this fab idea!

Despite it promising to be a more low-key, socially-distant Christmas this year, the chances are that at some point you will be invited over to a buffet gathering.
It would be rude not to dip in to the spread that your relative has lovingly prepared, so what are the best options?
Avoid the high carb options such as bread, pastries, pasta salads etc, and instead stick to protein options such as plain meats (yes, more turkey!), ham and cheeses, and fill at least half of your plate with salads.
Sticking to low carb options means that your body won't immediately grab on to the carbs and stick them straight into your muscles and liver as glycogen and water stores, thus avoiding the heartache of that immediate 2-4 pound water weight gain that we have all experienced at one time or another after eating a high-carb meal!

It's not easy staying on plan over the festive season, but food gifts such as chocolates just prolong the agony!
How many of us have said that they will start the diet once they have finished off all the Christmas food, which often takes us into the middle of January!
To ensure that you get back on track swiftly after the Big Day, drop your friends and family lots of hints for non-foody gifts that you would like, such as jewellery, PJs or a pamper day, rather than chocolates and biscuits!

As we approach the festive season, you are probably wondering how you will stay on plan with all those delicious treats everywhere. ๐ฑ
It can be particularly difficult if you are hosting guests or when you are out visiting family and friends... food is plentiful... buffets are full to the brim with festive nibbles and treats... the drinks are flowing... sounds impossible to stick to plan right?
It doesn't have to be difficult. Even if you do decide to treat yourself at Christmas and have something that is off plan, you can minimise the damage by choosing sensibly and being mindful of the calories you have.
Have you tried our new fava bean snacks? Fava beans are a healthy, high protein, high fibre, low calorie savoury snack. They are available in three super tasty flavours:-
๐ Salt and Vinegar
๐ Chilli & Lime
๐ Sour Cream & Chive
So you can still enjoy a snack without ruining your diet!
If over Christmas you are likely to go off plan anyway, instead of having that cheeky packet of crisps or a handful of nuts from the buffet, why not enjoy a pack of these instead and know that you are not completely blowing your diet?! They are the perfect snack idea at 100 calories and are highly nutritious.
Here's a little comparison for you and some food for thought...
Fava bean original (amounts per serving):-
Calories 102
Fat 3g
Saturated fat 0.2g
Carbs 10.5g
Carbs which sugars 0.3g
Carbs which fibre 4g
Protein 6.5g
Salt 0.03g
Bag of ready salted crisps:-
Calories 132
Fat 8g
Saturated fat 0.7g
Carbs 13g
Carbs which sugars 0.1g
Carbs which fibre 1.1g
Protein 1.5g
Salt 0.35g
What's even more fantastic is that fava beans are not a meal replacement product and so they can be enjoyed by anyone, you don't have to be following the diet! They're a fantastic healthy option for kids too as they have much less fat and calories than crisps! ๐๐ป
So, if you are hosting over the party season, why not pour some of these in a bowl instead of the calorie laden alternatives and see what your guests make of them?!
These are all in stock and are proving popular with my clients! Ask me if you would like to try some!
