We try Black Sheep Coffee as it finally opens its first Welsh branch Coffee chain, Black Sheep Coffee has been due to open near Cardiff's Central Square for more than a year now - so we went in to find out what they sell (other than coffee) and what it's like inside

Sadly, many retail companies out there treat homeless folks without the respect human beings deserve 😕 At worst they are discriminated against and thrown out for no good reason, at best they are given expired left-over food items as a means to manage wastage, but they never get to look at the menu, choose what they like, and have a chat at the till like the rest of us get to do. At Black Sheep we’ve taken the opposite stance and launched our Free Coffee Board Initiative back in 2015 when we opened our very first shop 🤗 We haven’t looked back since and today our regulars know it’s an integral part of our business with more than 50 boards across our estate. So next time you visit one of our shops, remember that you can order a sticker and write a friendly note to be pinned on our FREE COFFEE BOARD so that those in need can tear it off in exchange for a free, freshly made coffee of their choice.

Homelessness isn't just about sleeping rough. All too often it also means isolation and loneliness 😔 Even in a big city 🌃 like London, homeless men and women can go several days without exchanging a single word with anyone, or even making eye contact with another human being 👀. Sometimes, ordering a coffee and chatting with a barista who knows you by your first name is more important than the coffee itself.
