Never ceases to remind me of summer days spent by borders books with the goths, skating by Clyde side and hitting gigs at SECC to see the likes of Korn, slipknot, the offspring, Manson and limp Bizkit.
No doubt this style has made a huge wave back into popular culture, manifesting it’s self in the recently popular “Gorpcore” trend. Signified by tighter fit, more cropped tops, baggy and oversized cargos / jeans, utility shoes and accessoried with caps, beanies, goggles and retro sunglasses. Might even dig out my old oakleys at this rate.

While this photo might not look particularly dramatic it was taken at one of the lowest points of my life.
There’s often little said about the stresses and pressures of running your own business, especially at a young age. You see the highlights, the fun days, the shoots, the events, the awards, the new business. And that certainly is part of it.
On social media you see a very curated, specially chosen and crafted identity, a brand.
What you don’t see is insurmountable pressure, the stress of constantly having to keep up, to spin 5 plates at once - all the time, knowing that every move you make and everything you do is criticised.
You don’t see the disappointment, lost contracts, fractured relationships, the waking up at 3am worrying about everything, if you even manage to sleep at all. Add on top of this The want to do the best by everyone who relies on you and you have a recipe for a very volatile lifestyle.
To combat how I was feeling I was going out and doing virtually anything unhealthy to distract myself from how I was feeling rather than dealing with my problems face on. But when I did deal with them properly by getting progressional help, everything started to get better.
It took me a long time to pick myself up from where I was in this photo and get to where I am now, and there’s still a long way to go. Not every day is a great day but the good out number the bad now.
So for anyone out there who is trying the self-employed / founder / freelancer life - if you find it tough just know you aren’t alone, and if you ever need to chat my inbox is open,

Choosing colours for a brand is always one of the hardest parts. Having an adaptable and flexible palette backed up with beautiful paper stocks makes the job that bit easier though.

Our new identity for Travel was about creating a fresh, ownable and recognisable brand style. Combining fresh imagery and a brand tool kit inspired by travel cues such as boarding cards, luggage tags and departure boards.
We equipped trtl with a new logo, brand position, strategy, copywriting and imagery, as well as supporting with website design guidelines.
Our rebrand for was about creating clean utilitarian design, as sleek and functional as their bags.
Using militaristic type blended with structured typographic grids allowed us to create an flexible and adaptable identity with a no nonsense approach.

Our identity for Hancock seeks to mirror the garments utilitarian functionality, a modern interpretation of essential garments with an identity to match. All starting with a change of name from Hancock of Scotland, to Hancock Studios, for their diffusion line.

You know what time it is
Tonight our creative for is up for 3 star awards - being the youngest agency to be appointed a V&A contract this is a huge deal to us.
This brief was so close to our hearts, being all about club culture through the years, we poured our everything into it. The creative attached was inspired by all the stories my mum and family told me about starting the Hacienda and summer of love.
