Café Mila

This is the most difficult post we’ve ever had to write, an announcement we’ve tried for a long time to avoid making: Cafe Mila as you know it will close at the end of February.

There is some good news: THE STUDIO WILL STAY OPEN and yoga classes will continue as normal. And the cafe space will operate as a venue for events, parties, pop-up dinners and more.

Already we are being asked why, and the answer is simple: the pandemic and high street competition have halved our income and we have exhausted our savings keeping the cafe alive. Sadly, quality healthy fresh food and great coffee at a reasonable price is not a viable proposition.

We are sad, very sad. But also very grateful— for the chance to do something special, and grateful to all of you for being part of it for more than a decade. Without customers there would be no Mila. We have got to know many of you well and will cherish your friendship and miss your company.

We’re also grateful to our wonderful staff. We’ve lost count of how many James has taught to make the perfect flat white but they have all been awesome. “What lovely staff you have” is a daily refrain, and it’s true. We will miss them all.

So, as we ponder “what next?” for the cafe we are open to ideas. If you or anyone you know has an idea that would work in the cafe space please let us know. We would be happy to talk to anyone interested in taking it on permanently. Meanwhile the venue will be available for pop-ups, parties and more, so do get in touch if you’re planning anything.

After doing all we can to stay open through the pandemic the cafe will be closed for a few days in the interests of your safety.
Several of our lovely staff are isolating after positive lateral flow tests and we're left with too few to provide the service you deserve.
We will be back- soon we hope.

After 10 years of scrummy cakes and awesome bakes (not to mention wicked brownies) this lovely lady is hanging up her apron to move to a new home. We're gutted of course, but also thrilled that Sally will still be part of the Mila family - on Friday mornings you'll find her making a different kind of magic in the yoga studio.
