At Friday's Parish Council meeting we had two representatives from open reach to explain the possible rollout out of full fibre broadband to the Eastoft exchange. Which would give the village a faster and more reliable broadband. As a parish council we fully endorse the scheme, and want to assure the people of Garthorpe and Fockerby it's not a scam. So I will list a few of the questions that came up
Q:- will it cost individual house holder money to be connected
Answer:-no the scheme is payed for by the goverment voucher scheme and open reach, open reach get Β£4000 per household that sign up to the scheme People in other areas have found that they can get faster broadband cheaper than what they are paying know.
Q;- do I have to sign a broadband deal with open reach
Answer:- No you are free to select your broadband provider as you do now BT,Sky,Virgin,Voderfone etc
Q;- Will there be any disruption in the Village
Answer:- No they will use exsisting telegraph poles the fibre will just replace your existing coper cables
Q;- what has to be done to individual properties
Answer;- The fibre will come into your house just as the copper cable does now it just replaces it.
Q;-Will there be any telecommunication towers as seen in Eastoft and Crowle
Answer:- No they are 5G and this is pure broadband open reach don't do 5g the exciting green box at the end of Margrave lane should be sufficient
Q:- why should people sign up
Answer:- They have to guarantee a Percentage of properties to the government so the funds can be released. And the people that sign up with be given preference if the scheme goes ahead.
