I’m going to start reviewing YARD TOILETS!!
Haha yes! I spend a lot of time on the road driving between yards and I have decided if I come to your yard expect a toilet review!

Todays offering is a solid 8/10
Clean with actual plumbing, soap and a towel which is impressive. The drafty door and old plumbing hole which is plenty big enough for rats has me a little nervous 🤣

It’s only 9am and I already look like this 😂

Highly recommend Lily if you want to sell via sales livery. The horses are well looked after, she is a kind and gentle but very competent rider.

🤩 it’s show season!
Please be aware this is the busiest time of year for me, everyone is getting back out on the circuit and I get a lot more calls about needing urgent treatment before a specific event.
For my regular clients you know I will bend over backwards to fit in urgently- yes even in weekends or later in the evening!
However I am now booking well into July/August so please make sure that for regular treatment you are thinking ahead!

Nearly there peeps. Suns out today at least!

I am currently fully booked until the end of March for equine and canine appointments!
It’s always busy leading up to Crufts and with the increase in workload for the horses coming out of a winter break. If you want to be booked in for April then get in touch now!

Wherever possible PREHAB and proper training to reduce the chances then rehab and proper training if it has happened and surgery as last resort!

Is kissing spine surgery a good idea? Or a last resort!?

Did you know that boney changes to the spinous processes are usually worse after surgery, but, as the nerves innervating the dorsal spinous processes are cut, the horses can’t feel their backs anymore!

This is why surgery is reported to becoming less and less recommended, as practitioners start to recognise the factors we can change to reduce the onset of clinical signs!

Marshal-Gibson et al. Stated..

“The majority (82%) of respondents reported some level of improvement in clinical signs of primary back pain with rehabilitation alone. To date, there has been no consensus or discussion about common abnormalities, diagnostic tests, treatments or management options for primary equine back pain in the United States. Results of this survey are a starting point showing current trends in diagnosis, treatment and management of primary equine back pain among equine practitioners in the United States showing 82% of practitioners using rehabilitation as a component of treatment.”

This doesn’t change the fact that for some horses surgery may be the best option. However, If we learn to recognise the common abnormalities and management issues that predispose to clinical kissing spine then we can both help to prevent and treat the disease non-invasively in many cases.
