You have the power to decide if you stick with things or give up…
☀️Your workouts or other wellness habits should ultimately help you feel bright, not blue.
❗️However that doesn’t mean it’s always going to be easy, sometimes you do have to dig deep. But it shouldn’t feel absolutely onerous.
🤔However, if your workouts or other wellness habits are feeling so awful that you can’t stick with them, perhaps you’ve tried to do too much too soon.
✔️Please ensure you’re taking it step-by-step, meeting yourself where you’re at & doing workouts which are appropriately challenging for you.

Having said that, bring on Spring! These sub-zero temperatures aren’t fun! Counting on my workouts to stoke my furnace each day 🔥

Inspired by ‘s brilliant article in this weekend with my husband’s ( ) torso front & centre …. I thought I’d dissect the article & let you know what are his secrets to his “CEO body” in his 50s alongside a high-powered job, long working hours, a heavy/stressful workload & 4 kids!
How can the non-billionaire achieve this.

⭐️One to SHARE with your menfolk⭐️

… Darren swears by many of the tactics mentions the billionaires use… (& he’s been living by these rules for decades!) Let’s break it down ⬇️

☑️Lift heavy weights often - He strength trains 5-6days per week. Important to keep testosterone, human-growth-hormone (& libido 🫣)levels up, combat sarcopenia & reduce stress.
Darren says:
➡️schedule your workout as a priority appointment, have a plan, get in & get it done without distractions - 45mins & give maximum effort when you train.
➡️Focus on: pull ups, chest press, shoulder press, pull overs, bicep curls, rows, press ups, deadlifts, squats & lunges

☑️Prioritise protein, pack in plants & intermittent fasting approach - that’s how he eats. He eats close to 2g protein per kg body weight each day to support the muscle recovery & growth from his training, includes a diverse plant intake of veggies, salads, fruit, pulses etc & doesn’t eat between 7pm & around 9-10am giving a fasting period of about 14-15hrs overnight.

☑️Caffeine & creatine. Darren just has a strong espresso as a “pre-workout” and the only supplement he takes is Creatine

☑️Minimal alcohol / loads of H20 - gone are the days of boozy lunches - because he wants to perform at a high level Darren keeps alcohol to an absolute minimum & glugs water like there’s no tomorrow.

☑️Get competitive - it may not be the Highland Kings Ultra of the billionaires but Darren enters a fitness challenge/ competition each year to give his training drive & focus & take him out of his comfort zone.

☑️Recovery is prioritised through good nutrition, sleep & mobility/stretching - it’s not quite the ice baths & saunas of the billionaires, but it works.

Keep it uncomplicated. Do it forever.

Thank you for including my expertise as a PT to help explain how we can move mindfully and effectively work our muscles while doing the household chores.

👌🏼This not only helps us brace the body safely while moving (no more tweaking your back while making the bed!) but can also help us introduce some more meaningful physical activity to our day by treating our household tasks as exercise snacks.

❗️NB… this advice is not reserved for women - ALL people should be doing their fair share of chores around the house 🙌🏼

⭐️In life there are essentially 2 places in which we inhabit - our bodies and our homes - and it serves us best to care for & look after them both, so why not combine the two 🫀🏡

⭐️It is perfectly great to be training for a million brilliant reasons which have nothing to do with changing your aesthetics.
⭐️It is also perfectly great to be training for a million reasons which have nothing to do with a particular physical challenge.

➡️For the majority of incredibly busy women & mums I work with, setting and adhering to a “SMART” goal is an added pressure they could do without in most instances!

📣This is - of course - not to say that smart goals or training for a physical challenge or even a change in physique are ‘inherently’ bad - that is not what I’m saying 📣

🙌🏼There are just so many other reasons (listed in the slide) to train which are quite difficult to quantify yet come with tremendous benefits, it’s also great just to seek a little improvement in all areas over time 👍🏼

This post is based on a chat with a client of mine - she told a group of friends she has PT & they immediately wanted to know her goals & what she’s hoping to get out of it.
One of these friends had seen a PT before to chase a particular goal - she reached that goal & stopped training! 🤦🏼‍♀️🫣

For most of my clients their training is just part of the puzzle of self care ensuring they are looking after their physical body so it is strong, fit, capable & functional as part of a healthy, active, forever-lifestyle.

You know, it need not be more complicated than that!

I’m 3 weeks ahead of you filming the workouts for the challenge & feeling so positive for the past few weeks of consistent, strengthening workouts 💪🏼
(Even as a trainer consistency can slip sometimes 🙃)

✔️So having a plan in place & an effective & gradually progressing program to follow is helping me stay motivated & carve out that time for me to work on strength & fitness. Feeling stronger & fitter already 💪🏼

⭐️There’s so many unquantifiable benefits of training and I can’t wait for you to be experiencing them too as you continue through the program:

There I was thinking I’d get loads of work-ey things done with all this time away from the regular schedule….

But it seems what I needed was to nourish my soul with all the goodness that a long weekend can offer - have to remind myself these public holidays are there so we really do take a step away from work!
