When I was 39 weeks pregnant I discovered my baby had turned breech. When he was born it was standard practice for him to attend an ultrasound appointment at 6 weeks old. It was then we were told he had shallow hips and mild hip dysplasia that would require a pavlik harness to correct the issue. At first I was extremely worried about how he would be affected by it but when the time came for him to be fitted the team were brilliant at putting our minds at ease and my baby only had a day of being upset while he adjusted to it. We had bought special clothes in advance for him to wear over the harness from M&S and Next which I think made him more comfortable and made nappy changes a lot easier. Fast forward 4 weeks of non stop wear and we had the all clear from the consultant that his hips are stable and corrected and he doesn’t need to go back for a check up until next year! It’s been challenging but we are so happy we addressed this while he’s too young to remember anything than risk him having hip trouble in the future! We are extremely grateful to the team at Princess Alexandra for helping our boy!
