As we at ZooNation release the film of Message In A Bottle into 500 UK Cinemas today - I find myself conflicted. It should be a day of great celebration - a milestone for us as a company - and the beautiful result of dedicated hard work, vision and talent from a huge team of exceptional people. However - world events can make it feel very hard to celebrate anything right now. The telling of this story is more relevant than ever - and that is heartbreaking. ZooNation is driven by a mission to tell stories that give a voice to the under-represented. I feel privileged to have been part of telling this story and will always be proud of what we have all achieved together.

On that note - I do want to express my sincere gratitude to everyone who has worked on Message In A Bottle during the last 7 years - from the early workshops in 2017 through to the closing show in Philadelphia just last week. I hope for everyone involved in the show’s creation that we can at least feel proud to be part of telling this vital and true story. I certainly feel proud of the cinematic experience we have created with the camera up close, weaving between the dancers, capturing their pain, their joy, their sweat, their tears, their breath and their exquisite movement quality. It’s a story about love - and the power it has to heal - which is something, I am certain, we all need.

A fitting tribute for the 28th May - ‘World Blood Cancer Day’.

So utterly grateful to Philippa Busby and Harpenden Dance School for choosing to support Myeloma UK as one of their charities this year.

David and I have been blown away by all the support over the last few months and it means the world to us, knowing there are vital funds going towards research to help find a cure for this devastating disease.

Thanks again to all those involved. The show was spectacular and you should all be so proud of yourselves after some incredible performances! 💪🏻🍾😍

We are delighted to welcome Jasmine Osborn to the role of Vice principal of Harpenden Dance School. Jasmine has been teaching at the school for two years and worked with us on the acting side of the show as well as creating some great dance pieces. She will be popping in to some more classes to get to know you all and will be generally helping with the day to day running and future development of the school.

Thursday 4:45pm Park Hall – Helpful for GCSE Dance preparation as well as a great way to keep active and creative. Ages 13+. This brand new syllabus was created by Dr Ross McKim, the internationally acclaimed dancer, choreographer, philosopher, and Artistic Director of the Rambert School of Ballet and Contemporary Dance (from 1985–2015) for the ISTD. This training method will expand your movement vocabulary, enhance your existing training, and encourage learners to find a strong sense of individuality through an equally balanced focus on technical and artistic development.

Pyjama week! Come to class in your pyjamas this week as we recover from the show and raise money for Myeloma UK, Alzheimer’s Research UK, and Essex and Herts Air Ambulance. Bring donations if you wish to add to the profits from the show which all do to the charities - total to be announced when all invoices relating to the show have been received and sorted!

Thank you Shantalliv Tap Festival for a fabulous few days of dancing! Particularly special to be at Ireland’s first ever tap festival with “my girls”. Hoping more people will join us next year (ALL levels welcome!)?!?! Inspirational teachers, great routines, bags of enthusiasm from tappers and locals alike, and all in a surprisingly rural location!!
