As you may well already know, there is always lots going on at the Pannal Village Hall and we have picked some highlights from the last couple of months to share with you, as well as a quick look for...
On Saturday 26th November 2022, the Harrogate Magicians Society, in collaboration with the Pannal Village Hall Committee, put on a spectacular Evening of Magic, Mystery and Illusion in the Main Hall, in support of The Motor Neurone Disease Association.
Celebrating the 75th anniversary of the Harrogate Magicians Society, the sell out event saw 75 punters enjoy an evening full of comedy, mystery and a mix of classic and modern magic, with a bit of mind reading thrown in for good measure.
Raising over £575 for the Motor Neurone Disease Association (Yorkshire Dales Branch), including an interval auction of four Leeds Rhinos Super League tickets, the event was a huge success, with positive feedback received from everyone that attended (especially those that 'volunteered' to be part of one of the tricks).
The Harrogate Magician Society (harrogatemagic.co.uk) includes a mix of professional, semi-pro and amateur magicians, each with their own style and approach to magic and illusion. Many of the performers are available for hire - please see the links below if you are interested in booking a magician for your next event:

We have now completed the new Toilet Block with better facilities which include a separate Disabled WC unit with Baby Change facility and we are now pressing on with the planned ramped access and new oak doors to the Snooker Hall. The Snooker Hall has been redecorated and fitted with a new carpet. The snooker tables have also been serviced and repaired.
Our new Studio, Activity Room and Committee Rooms are now available for use and the Main Hall has been fitted with remote controlled roof windows and a new level access Table Store. We have also installed a Hearing Loop and new Mood Lighting in the Main Hall.
Our newly fitted kitchen includes a 2 minute cycle dishwasher and is also fitted with a push button controlled fire rated servery shutter to the Main Hall.
The new Entrance Gallery displays a large range of old and new photographs celebrating our activities over the years. This also gives direct access to all rooms and provides a safe drop off/pick up point for parents. It includes a range of Notice Boards for a Regular Groups to promote their activities.
We regret to say that we have had to postpone the proposed Open Day, this is due due to the current Covid-19 situation. We will let you know the new date as soon as we have it.
Have a
Merry Christmas and a Prosperous New Year
PLEASE NOTE. The reason we don't have a phone in the hall, is because there is not always someone there to answer one. You can easily contact us via our website and press the CONTACT US button. We receive most of our bookings this way.
LATEST NEWS
Both the new toilet block and refurbished snooker hall are now finished. You can come and see these and the rest of our amazing transformation on our OPEN DAY, January 29th from 2pm to 5pm.
There will be demonstrations from Martial Arts and others. You will also be able to talk to some of the people who run the various sessions on offer.
We do hope you can attend, refreshment will be available and some of the volunteers who keep this wonderful community facility going, will be happy to answer any question you may have.
With all the news about the new Covid variant hitting the headlines, we would like to remind you that we have kept most of the changes we initially introduced and which enabled us to stay open and “Covid Secure” during Lockdown.
So, visitors will still see our messages on our pull-up banners on entry and the sanitising sprays throughout the building. We have also kept the signs on the door to every room, reminding hirers of their responsibilities.
Just a quick update on the building work. We are running a bit behind on finishing the new toilet block and rendering the walls at the new entrance. Shortage of some building materials haven't helped. However, the wait will be worth it and the work will soon be finished.
With the exception of the snooker hall and some further work outside (disabled access and landscaping around the memorial) we will then have finished our plan to bring this c130 building up to modern acceptable standards. We have had some great feedback even before that happens.
Pannal Puddle Ducks Playgroup is reopening on Monday.
Join us from 10-11.30 on Mondays for a stay & play session for only £2.50 per family. Parents, grandparents & child carers all welcome.
Bring your own cuppa plus a snack & drink for your child. Due to a volunteer shortage the kitchen is currently closed during our session.
We are also looking for volunteers to help so please get in touch with Sara (07870 810241) if you are free on a Monday morning & fancy supporting a community group.
Work now well under way on the new toilet block. Should be on target for September.
We are still working hard to finish the final part of our modernisation programme. Covid has done its best to stop us but all it's done is delayed it. WATCH THIS SPACE!

Building News
November Update.
Great news! We have completed the two brand new rooms on the 1st floor which are now available for meetings and activities. So, we can now offer small groups a variety of rooms including our impressive new “Studio” which is ideal for fitness and dance activities. See below.
We have also installed new flooring to our old large meeting room and renamed it the “Activity Room” and this has already been used for Yoga, Music Groups and Phonics groups.
Our brand new Committee Room has been fitted with a TV monitor and drop down screen for presentations and the big Velux roof window, which is electrically operated, includes a black out blind. This room is ideal for quiet smaller private meetings of up to 10 people.
Downstairs work is progressing well on our new Entrance Gallery where we intend to display a large range of old and new photographs celebrating our achievements and activities over the years.
Here we will also provide a small waiting area and notice boards for regular Groups to display and promote their activities.
All rooms throughout now have WIFI data points with power boosted signals allowing solid high-speed connections to all monitors and screens.
Also the solar power controlled Velux windows in the Main Hall have been fitted complete with rain sensors and black out blinds plus we now have a new level access Table Store next door to the Chair Store so no more wrestling the tables up steps from the Snooker Hall.
Sadly though we have had to postpone our planned new Toilet Block until next Summer because construction delays on the Bellway Homes site has meant our anticipated S106 money from the Council is not yet available.
Meanwhile we do intend to press on with works to upgrade the Stage House and forecourt so that as much as possible is completed this phase.
Finally, we are also working on our new website which we hope to launch early next year when we are very much looking forward to welcoming back all those groups that have had to suspend activities due to the Covid pandemic.
Thank you for your ongoing support.
