We celebrated this week with a Pumpkin Carving Competition, Halloween Quiz and Pork Pies for all. Congrats to Matthew Roe for winning the Pumpkin Carving Competition - we appreciate how much time and effort went into his 'hungover' pumpkin! Thank you to all our generous sponsors, The HACS Group ran the Yorkshire Marathon Relay today in York (in the rain), both teams finishing sub 4 hrs (just!). We raised a great £6,265 including Gift Aid, for Saint Michael’s Hospice. Well done to all runners and supporters for giving up their Sundays for a worthy cause 🧡🏃🏻‍♂️☔️

On Sunday 20th October, 2 teams of 6 from The HACS Group are running the Yorkshire Marathon Relay to raise funds for Saint Michael’s Hospice. This charity provides crucial care for patients and families facing terminal illnesses, a cause close to our hearts.


Saint Michael’s Hospice requires £19,137 daily to operate, yet must independently fund 83% of their annual care costs due to limited government support. Your contribution, no matter the amount, will significantly impact those in need.

Celebrating another great week at The Great Yorkshire Show...despite the typical British summer weather! The HACS Group are proud to continue to Sponsor the show, as well as provide all waste management - a shout out to our team on the ground at HACS Environmental who, as always, have been working hard behind the scenes!

It’s all systems go preparing for Saturday’s Great Knaresborough Bed Race, we have a HACS team doing the all important job of traffic management as well as two teams taking part in the parade and race…you’ll no doubt spot us somewhere so make sure you give us a cheer!

Today we’re thinking about and this years theme ‘Planet vs Plastics’. Here at HACS Environmental we do what we can to ensure plastic waste isn’t going to landfill. On average 18%* of the waste from our current Construction sites is Plastics, at our facility here in Harrogate we sort and recycle waste from our sites (and other local businesses).

On top of operating our own waste transfer and recycling facility for all types of waste, we also operate landfill services, and a crushing and recycling facility for inert building waste to ensure the most environmentally friendly products are used on our own construction sites...as well as supplying thousands of tonnes of recycled hard core materials and soils each year to third party customers.

Here at The HACS Group we're celebrating and giving thanks to the wonderful women in our business and the wider industry. We're always encouraging of more women joining the industry and look forward to growing our team in the future! 🧡

Due to an increasing turnover and a full order book for 2023 we’ve made some recent changes to our senior management structure here at The HACS Group.

We are delighted to have welcomed Neil Silcock at the end of 2022 as our new Construction Director. Neil joins us with a wealth of experience in the Construction Industry and we are thrilled to have him on board.

We would also like to Congratulate Jon Fox on the appointment of his new role as Technical Director. Jon joined the business in 2015 and has recently transitioned into his new role with specialist expertise in managing all technical and design aspects of our projects.

Mark, Eddie and Adam are likely familiar faces to you all, and continue in their relevant Director roles, now with Neil and Jon’s valued support.

We’re saying a big thank you to corporate supporter and Harrogate district-based The HACS Group, who have raised a fantastic £15,000 to support Saint Michael’s Hospice as part of their 35-year anniversary.

The team’s efforts over the last two years include Total Warrior, which raised a remarkable £10,000, the Yorkshire Three Peaks, half marathons and a variety of fundraising activities in their office.

The team chose to support Saint Michael’s Hospice as many of its staff have a personal connection. HACS’ Commercial Director Eddie Ashworth said: “We have always had Saint Michael’s close to our hearts, and as a local company with over 100 employees, many of our colleagues and their families have had experience and the benefit of services provided by Saint Michael’s.”

Saint Michael’s Chief Executive Tony Collins said: “We’d like to say a big thank you to HACS for their fantastic efforts to raise £15,000 in support of Saint Michael’s. Thanks to the remarkable support of our community, we’re able to ensure we reach those across the Harrogate district with personalised and compassionate care, in the right place, at the right time.”

Today concludes another spectacular year of the Great Yorkshire Show. We’re proud to be long standing sponsors of the show and have once again enjoyed a busy, sunny and eventful few days, thanks to all that make it happen each year.

Also, a special thanks to our team at HACS Environmental who provided all the waste management for this years show.

We made it! The HACS warriors had a fab morning at Bramham, as a team of 23 we made it round the 12k course with 25 obstacles, the sun was shining and we were all smiling before AND after! Thanks for all the amazing support and donations, we made over £9,300 (and still counting!), which we will add to our total fundraising for Saint Michael's Hospice!

Total Warrior Week has arrived! With only 4 days until the big day, the HACS Warriors are excited (and maybe a bit nervous) about completing the gruelling 12k obstacle course on Saturday. What better motivation than the incredible sponsorship we have received for Saint Michael's Hospice so far.
