Rosa canina - Dog Rose, Wild Rose, Dogs Brier, Witches Brier
Roses are associated with love and beauty throughout history, mythology and folklore.
The hips were eaten as early as 2000 BC and with a high vitamin C content have been used to treat scurvy. They have also been used as a diuretic and treatment for dysentery and gout.
A sweet and tangy syrup or puree can be made from the hips. During WW2, a national rosehip collection week was set up when the import of fresh fruit became difficult. Rose hips are 20 times more vitamin C rich than oranges!
The name 'dog rose' comes from the belief that it's roots should be eaten if bitten by a rabid dog.
It is also known as 'Witches Brier' and used in witchcraft for love, luck, protection, and good fortune.
Be aware that the hairs inside the hips cause itching and have been used for itching powder!
IT'S BACK!

Mugwort is an important plant used in traditional Chinese, Hindu, and European medicines. Its main uses have been in treating gastrointestinal functions and gynacological disorders. It is known to have antiseptic, antibacterial, and antifungal properties.
It has also been used to repel midges, fleas, and moths and is known in France as Garde-robe.
A footpath with mugwort would help ease painful feet from walking and has been taken as a hangover cure, to prevent nightmares and to promote lucid dreaming.
It's culinary uses include favouring and bittering agent in certain ales.
In the Middle Ages, it was known as 'Mother of Herbs'. The name Artemisia is derived from the Greek Goddes Artemis. Goddess of the moon, wild animals, and the hunt.
In Shamanic cultures, it has been used to communicate with ancestors and the spirit world.
Used for protection, spiritual intuition, and to dispel negative energy. The God Thor is depicted wearing it as a protective belt and St John the Baptist a girdle of Mugwort to relieve stomach pain.
Witches, healers, and midwives would have it placed by or hung above their door.

The teasel looks to me like such a magical plant, and some modern witches use them for protection, negativity catchers, or symbolic brooms.
There is a history of its use in folklore where teasel root was used to treat warts and acne and an infusion used to strengthen the stomach and increase appetite.
It is also noted that water gathered from the basins around the stem was collected to use for the treatment of wrinkles and dark circles as well as arthritis.
It was used to comb or card wool and is still actually used to produce an ultra fine finish on some hats and billiard tables.
It can also produce a blue dye similar to indigo or yellow when alum is used as a mordant.

Prunella Vulgaris or Heal-all
It has taken over every inch of space between all my other wild flowers, and the bees love it!
It was used by herbalists to treat wounds, sore throats, and skin inflammation. In the Second World War, the leaves were used as plasters, and an infusion of leaves and flowers was used to bathe the wound.
It has been said to be used by Druids in healing magical illnesses and that witches grew it in their gardens during the witch hunt to confuse the inquisitors.
In spellwork, it is a gentle one for quiet, peaceful home protection.
These 2 Handmade Crystal Moon Wreaths will be available to buy from from tomorrow.
