Although as a Reiki Practitioner, I have been able to offer Reiki to animals for some time, I have devoted a LOT of time and energy to conducting animal case studies and attending an animal specific Reiki course in order to fulfil the UK Reiki Federation’s strict criteria for accreditation.

THE SCIENCE BEHIND REIKI

Whilst the majority of people I encounter are very open to the concept of reiki, there are naturally those who take a sceptical approach. With this in mind, I thought it might be useful to offer insight into some of the scientific research conducted to date in relation to reiki healing.

Reiki is classed as a “biofield energy therapy”, a biofield being an electric or magnetic field produced by a biological organism. In brief, the idea behind biofield energy therapies is that when you work with the energy field surrounding an individual, whether human or animal, corresponding changes simultaneously occur within the physical body of that individual.

Reiki is a wonderful form of biofield energy therapy which typically activates the parasympathetic nervous system (the “rest and digest” response), restoring physical, emotional and mental wellbeing in both humans and animals.

Reiki has been the subject of various scientific studies over the years, a number of which have concluded that reiki can help to reduce pain intensity, anxiety, depression and blood pressure in patients.

Whilst no one claims that reiki can cure specific diseases, including cancer, it has certainly been shown to be a useful palliative or supportive complementary therapy for people with cancer. Scientific studies on cancer patients have revealed that reiki can be effective in reducing fatigue, pain, anxiety levels, nausea, depression and the side effects of radiotherapy in such individuals.

Reiki has also been shown to assist with a reduction in pain intensity, anxiety and blood pressure in patients after undergoing surgical procedures. A further scientific study has revealed that reiki can have a positive effect on patients undergoing hemodialysis, reducing pain, fatigue and depression.

Although it is useful to refer to the above scientific studies when considering the value of reiki, and indeed to conduct further research into the effectiveness of this modality, I personally feel that the anecdotal evidence of how reiki has impacted individuals positively also speaks volumes.

As a Reiki Practitioner, I know what I have experienced when offering reiki to others and indeed to myself. I also know how reiki has benefitted my own clients. I respect that everyone is entitled to their own beliefs. All I ask is that those of you who remain sceptical about reiki healing just give it a go before firmly making your minds up 🙂.

Animals are highly sensitive to the vibrational frequencies around them. They have an innate ability to sense the energy emanating from all beings. You will no doubt have experienced your own animal just “knowing” and responding to you appropriately when you feel happy, excited, angry, sad or anxious.

Offering Reiki to any species of animal is simply magical. To witness their response to this beautiful, healing energy is a blessing and is truly humbling.

As with humans, Reiki can offer so many benefits to animals on a physical, mental, emotional and spiritual level. The immediate effects of Reiki can often be witnessed in their deep sense of relaxation during the session, but the benefits extend far beyond this tranquility. For example, Reiki can assist with:

💚 self-healing;
💚 pain relief;
💚 release of toxins from the body;
💚 relief from stress and/or anxiety;
💚 emotional healing following mistreatment or a bereavement;
💚 deep relaxation and inner peace;
💚 release of energy blockages.

Reiki will never be forced upon your animal. It will be offered, initially at a distance, to ensure that s/he is comfortable receiving the healing energy. Once it is clear that your animal is happy, the session will continue with a combination of hands on/off Reiki. Often, the animal receiving Reiki will shift their position or place in my hands the part of their body requiring extra attention in that moment, which makes the whole experience more interactive for the animal.

I am a fully qualified and insured Animal Reiki Practitioner and I am delighted to be able to offer this service.

My price list can be found below. A free 15 minute consultation will take place before the first session, to ensure that I have all the relevant history and information about your animal.

PRICES:

Dogs - £40 (1 hour)

Horses - £50 (1 hour)

Cats - £20 (30 mins)

A discount of 15% is applicable for block bookings of 4 or more sessions or if there is more than one animal requiring Reiki during the same visit.

These fees are for home visits within 10 miles of Hertford, Hertfordshire. Additional fees are payable per mile beyond the first 10 miles.
