Finding peace in clay. Exploring hand-building, the wheel and glaze.
A lovely week, ending in a visit to school to wave my last class off on up to high school and a sit in the all-too-infrequent sunshine.
Some new pre-Raphaelite inspired work in the studio with bowls, berry bowls and handles galore! Looks like a good bucket of reclaim on its way too!
Bring on the weekend. A weekend of sheds, weddings and theatrical coffee-mornings.
A much better way to spend this evening.
Such splendid feedback from lovely folk visiting this week and having a nosey at my pots; definitely feeling the love. Thank you to everyone who has had a look and especially to those who have made a purchase. It means the world.
Extra special thanks to the incredible staff for their support and encouragement.
USA mud stuff shopping in Knoxville TN. Happy potter mooching!
All set up grand opening event. Exciting times.
What a few days post stage managing Priscilla, Queen of the Desert at the Lamproom! It’s all been about fettling, firing and finishing stuff heading for in a week’s time. Now off to stage manage The Dresser in Holmfirth.
Playing around with some different hole-patterns for the berry-bowls. Need some glaze inspiration…
We’ve had our American family visit this last week. Ranee had a fun time in the studio - her first go on the wheel (pretty splendid too) and my first time showing someone else what to do!! Looking forward to finishing and glazing before taking it over to South Carolina next month!
So that splendid chap has been at it again, some ‘holding’ shelves for drying pre-firing. I may be mistaken, but I think he wants his dining room back! 🤷🏻♀️
It’s been an exciting day at FMP today as that splendid chap has “Trigger’s Broom”’d my table. Same table, new legs and new top. Great height for wedging. Might need a new stool for glazing/hand-building!!!
A bit of a change of scenery this week. No time in the mud, but what a view to wake up to each morning! Plenty of galleries and ceramics to look at though. StMichaelsMount
A few pre Christmas makes. It has been lovely to get back in the studio today after a few difficult weeks.
Loving my Jodie Neale Ceramics mug.
One of my favourite potters and absolute inspiration to me. I’m taking this as a message to keep going. ❤️
Way back when, at the beginning of my pottery journey, I would make mugs based on my favourite British wildlife animals. I often get asked about them, and I've recently enjoyed recreating some older designs with new techniques and glazes. There are just a few up for sale on my website right now 🩷 www.jodieneale.com

Today was my very first public outing. Christmas Fair.
Huge thanks to my splendid chap, my Helen, and to each and every single person who came, commented and purchased. It’s been an overwhelming day and we’re shattered!!! A perfect day with lots of learning about what sells! (Everything!)
…. And relax.
Left-over clay. 👻 Tried hard not to copy anyone else! #
Second glaze batch. I promise I won’t post every time, but I’m so giddy! Made so many birds because of the comments about the birds… hope I’ve not overdone it en
First full home-studio hand built and thrown work, home-fired/glazed/fired.
Very pleased.
A little twilight glazing. What a fiery sky!
Full day in the studio today. Some keeps. Some learning! Some glazing.
Successful first bisque….. and breathe!
and that splendid chap is again working hard for my dream. Wall boards going up over the ‘Yorkshire-winter insulation’.
Happy Kiln Day! exclaimed the splendid folk at . Happy me!
Clever chap insulating the studio for the winter! ❤️☔️💨❄️
The temporary den might just become permanent…….
Three days of playing. So happy! Lots of practice. Lots of cutting up pots to see what’s going on. Lots of learning.
