Heading into the weekend with the same feel-good feeling from Wednesdays Christmas concert rehearsal earlier this week! Here’s a sneak peak as we get well underway with this years pieces!

Our Open Rehearsal is tomorrow (24th September 2024) at 7:00 – 9:00pm. 🎶

We are recruiting all singers, especially tenors, basses and altos. All are welcome and there’s no need to register, just turn up!

We will be rehearsing works for our next concert on 2nd November, by Gabriel Faure, Imogen Holst and Ralph Vaughan Williams. It would be amazing to see lots of new faces join us for this open rehearsal.

You don't need to fill out any forms to join us for this, simply come along!

Joining us for ‘Let All The World In Every Corner Sing!’ on 2nd November are the Royal Northern Sinfonia!🎻✨

From their home at The Glasshouse International Centre for Music, Royal Northern Sinfonia share the joy and wonder of orchestral music with thousands of people across the North of England - and beyond - every year.

From symphonies to string quartets, film soundtracks to choral masses, and original performances with awesome artists from Sheku Kanneh-Mason to Self Esteem, the orchestra’s members have got one of the most varied jobs there is. They’re always looking for fresh new sounds from up-and-coming composers, inviting local communities to share a stage, and doing everything they can to inspire and prepare the musicians of tomorrow to one day take their place.

Please let your young musicians know that they can now enter for the UK Young Musician of the Year 2025 at www.mrssunderlandfestival.com. The winner will receive £1,000 and inevitably invitations to perform at concerts. There is now a £500 and £300 for the second and third places. It is a wonderful event and experience but the numbers are limited to the first 20 people to enter, so please do not delay. We are over subscribed every year.

We know this will sell out soon as it’s our one and only performance of it this year (21st December), so if you want to avoid disappointment please do secure your seats.

Handel’s Oratorio Messiah is probably the most celebrated choral work and the Hallelujah Chorus is instantly recognisable. The HCS annual Christmas Messiah performance is a Huddersfield tradition, broken only once since 1864 when concert halls closed in the 2020 Covid pandemic.

Thank you to everyone who supported our concert yesterday. It was lovely to have such an appreciative audience. Our choir is growing in confidence - so many of our members performed solos and gave the compere moments between numbers. 😃🎶
