Historic Moment: Irish Tricolour to be Raised Over Huddersfield Town Hall for the First Time
Tomorrow morning, Friday 15th March 2024 In a momentous occasion that marks a significant milestone in the cultural exchange between Ireland and Huddersfield, the Irish Tricolour - an trídhathach - will be raised over The Huddersfield Town Hall for the very first time.
The Irish Flag - bratach na hÉireann - will be presented to Mayo born Kirklees Mayor Cllr Cahal Burke from the Irish Community before it is flown over our town. This symbolic gesture celebrates the strong ties and shared heritage between Ireland and Huddersfield.
The event will be graced by the esteemed presence of the Irish Education Minister, Norma Foley - TD, hailing from Tralee, County Kerry. Minister Foley's attendance adds a touch of prestige to the occasion and underscores the importance of fostering international relations and cultural understanding.
The raising of the Irish Tricolour over Huddersfield Town Hall symbolizes unity, friendship, and respect for diversity. It serves as a testament to the enduring bond between Ireland and Huddersfield, highlighting the values of inclusivity and mutual respect.
The flag will be flown over the whole of the St Patrick's Day weekend and the front of the Town Hall will also be illuminated in the green, white and gold! 💚🤍🧡
