⚠️Flood warnings and alerts are still in place across Huntingdonshire and river levels remain high across much of the district. The situation is improving, with flood alerts no longer in place for Alconbury Brook and Ellington Brook, but a second peak flow is anticipated in the next 2-3 days so please stay prepared.

🚨⚠️Flood warnings and alerts are still in place across Huntingdonshire. River levels remain high and are still rising in places. Take care on riverside roads and footpaths, and don't put yourself in unnecessary danger.
The latest information we have from the Environment Agency is that water levels in St Neots and Brampton have now peaked. The flow will reach a maximum later today in St Ives but a significant rise in river levels is not expected.
No significant rain is expected for the next few days, but temperatures will drop below freezing. Another high level is expected along the River Great Ouse in the next 2-3 days so although levels will drop they will rise once again so please stay prepared. We will provide a further update at that time.

In case you missed it last week: 🔎
HDC have approved a new Council Tax support scheme, with the support we're providing the most financially vulnerable in the district going up from 80% to *up to 100%* of the Council Tax bill from the 1st April 2024! 🎉
Supporting those who need it in our community is one of the Joint Administration's and Liberal Democrats' biggest priorities - and I'm proud that we're stepping up to support people in these hard times.
The new simplified and banded scheme will also mean the Council won't have to spend extortionate amounts of money to get very small amounts of money off of those who can't afford it.
You can find more information here: https://www.huntingdonshire.gov.uk/news/district-council-approves-new-council-tax-support-scheme
It's been great to spend some time over the past few weeks delivering our latest edition of Focus.
Inside you'll find more on the future of our High Street, road safety, casework and Tory concrete chaos - there's also some stop press news on tackling anti-social behaviour.
We work year round and stay in touch with you all the time - not just election time!
Give it a read when it comes through your door!
This is great news - myself and Jo have been calling for action against anti-social behaviour and this is a great step forward.
Safety in our town is one of the biggest priorities for the public, myself, and the administration at HDC, and I'll continue to do everything I can to get action on ASB.
A big thank you to everyone involved in this, including BID Huntingdon and Hunts Business Against Crime!

It was great to spend some time last Saturday at HDC's Climate Conversation event! It was great to speak to teams at the council to reaffirm what we're doing for the environment and how we can continue to do even more 🌳
As a party, we make pledges, and we deliver on them. 🔶✅
Here's a look at the progress made on the Climate promises that we made in the Lib Dem manifesto for last year's District Council elections. 👇
(There's also more info about HDC's Climate Conversation Event, happening at Hinchingbrooke Park on Saturday!)

It was a pleasure to be able to attend the Remembrance Parade in Huntingdon this morning.
Thanks go to Huntingdon Town Council for organising yet another well-run event.
We will always remember those that made the ultimate sacrifice in the name of Liberty and Democracy.
It's been great getting out and speaking to residents on the doorstep, as well as reporting any highway issues I've spotted while out and about.
If you've got any questions or concerns, please feel free to get in touch.

Tomorrow, Councillor Jo Harvey, Myself and the LD Hunts East Town Councillors are holding our usual monthly surgery - we'll be on the Market Square between 11:30 and 12:30!
It was great to hold our regular surgery today, along with Councillor Jo Harvey and Lib Dem Town Councillors Amanda and Padrica.
We're on the Market Square on the last Saturday of the month, 11:30am-12:30pm (look for the Orange Tent)!
Yesterday, the Mayor of Cambs and Peterborough Nik Johnson and Leader of Cambs County Council Lucy Nethsingha accepted my invitation to join me on a site visit of the Ring Road to show them why improvements are desperately needed to improve safety for pedestrians and cyclists.
We discussed the major issues present on parts of the route - both Lucy and Nik are keen to see improvements be made, and we talked about how we could make these ambitions a reality.
I'm extremely grateful to both of them for taking the time to visit and I'm looking forward to the next steps in this process.
Today marks the 1 year anniversary of Jo and myself being elected - and it's been a busy first year! We've been getting stuck in, working hard for you all year - here's a summary of just some of the stuff we've been up to!
To everyone who put their trust in us last year - thank you. It's a privilege to have the opportunity to do what we're doing and we'll do everything we can to stand up for you.
As a reminder to residents, there are no local elections taking place in Huntingdonshire this year. However, to vote in future elections you will need photo ID. More information is available at: http://ow.ly/fp3y50ObExR
HAVE YOUR SAY 📣
HDC’s Issues Paper consultation is live!
How do you think Huntingdonshire should grow and change over the next 30 years? How should we respond to climate change locally? You could help to shape the next Local Plan by letting HDC know what you think the priorities should be and what the issues are locally.
Have your say by 5 July at: https://consult.huntingdonshire.gov.uk/kse/
It was great speaking to residents on the doorstep earlier today! As always, I'm here for you all year round, so if you have an issue please get in touch and I'll do my best to help.
I've written to Cllr Lucy Nethsingha, Mayor Dr Nik Johnson and Cllr Alex Beckett about the issues with the ring road pavements.
I've asked them to come and do a site visit with me so I can show them the issues in person and show them why improvements are needed.
You can read my full letter to them below 👇
Last night at HDC's Full Council meeting, I was proud to speak in favour of the brand new Huntingdonshire Place Strategy - an optimistic 30 year vision for the future of the District.
At the same meeting, the Joint Administration also passed its Corporate Strategy, setting out the council's priorities, how we'll make sure we're on track and how we'll deliver for you over the coming years.
I'm proud to be part of an administration where delivering for our residents is our main priority and I'm looking forward to working with colleagues to carry on with this in the coming years.
It was great for myself and Councillor Jo Harvey to be able to hold our monthly surgery in Huntingdon Market Square earlier today!
As a reminder, we're on the Market Square from 11:30-12:30 on the last Saturday of each month (look for the orange marquee)!
A busy week ahead for us Huntingdonshire District Councillors - at full council on Wednesday Cllr Nathan Hunt and I have a lot on the agenda, including the budget for the year ahead and a climate strategy. Interesting stuff!
It's also time for the monthly surgery on the Market Square on Saturday, 11:30 to 12:30, so if you want to come and have a chat with a Councillor, that's a good time and place to do it 😉
I've spent some time this weekend reporting damaged footpaths and potholes to the County Council - Cambridgeshire County Council can only fix issues they're aware of, so if you spot any please report them here: https://www.cambridgeshire.gov.uk/residents/travel-roads-and-parking/roads-and-pathways/roadworks-and-faults
Had a productive lunchtime talking to residents (along with Councillor Jo Harvey and the Huntingdon East Town Councillors) at our surgery today - we're on the Market Square the last Saturday of each month, 11:30-12:30 (look for the orange tent!)
Last Saturday of the month, which means it's Surgery time! Come along and chat to local Councillors about any issues you want to bring to our attention, on the Market Square 11:30 - 12:30.
I've been out and about delivering our latest edition of Focus! The contents this time include how to get help during the current Cost of Living Crisis, standing up for Carers and a spotlight on mental health help in town.
