Did the school run, and found another fly tip to report. This spot regularly has items dumped here, and I've lost count of the number of reports I've raised for it! Please, be responsible and dispose of items in the proper way, and if you see anything that has been dumped do report it on the HDC website so that it can be removed. Remember, there's a fine of up to ยฃ400 for fly-tipping, so it's in your interests to do things properly!

Last Saturday of the month approaching, which means it's time for the monthly Councillor surgery with Cllr Nathan Hunt. We won't be in our usual spot on the Market Square due to the Christmas Market, but we're only moving around the corner - just look for the brightly coloured gazebo!

Attended the Huntingdon Remembrance Day parade, very well organised by Huntingdon Town Council and well attended by young and old alike.

We will remember them.

You can read more about the proposed changes here:

At the Coneygear Centre and volunteering today. Disappointed to hear about the two deliberate fires that were started on Friday evening, and angry when I saw for myself just how much damage has been done. Please, if you've any information about this, report it. To the centre manager, to the police, via crimestoppers. Don't let these people get away with it! ๐Ÿคฌ

If anyone has any information, please do report it to crimestoppers on 0800 555 111. This kind of behaviour means money is spent on replacing equipment rather than on new things or better services. It destroys communities, and that piece of equipment might have been key to someone's mental health, their exercise regime.

We're feeling very frustrated as we share the news that some of the outdoor gym equipment at Coneygear Park has been vandalised again over the bank holiday weekend. Unfortunately our Estate Services team are unable to repair this so that it will be safe for future use, and will instead need to buy a replacement for the broken seat.

We apologise for the inconvenience this will cause to users of Coneygear Park, and hope that those responsible for this damage will be held accountable for their actions. It's disheartening to see such senseless acts of vandalism in our community.

We appreciate your understanding and patience as we work towards restoring the damaged equipment. We will keep you updated on the progress and hope to have the replacement seat installed as soon as possible.

Remember, it's up to all of us to protect and preserve our community assets. Let's stand together against vandalism and promote a culture of respect.

Huntingdon Town Council are seeking views for the introduction of 20mph zones in locations across Huntingdon.

Cambridgeshire County Council has put in place a new process and funding to install more 20mph zones or limits. Residents and local authorities were invited to submit applications to the county council, with the support of their local parish/town council and county councillor, between 27 February and 28 April this year. Due to the timing of Huntingdon Town Councilโ€™s meetings calendar, councillors were unable to approve and hold a formal consultation prior to this deadline. Councillors were asked to speak directly with their residents and then make representations on their behalf.

At a meeting of the Leisure and Community Services Committee on 13th April 2023, it was resolved to nominate the Stukeley Meadows estate, the Bird estate in Hartford, and American Lane for the CCC 20mph application. These locations were selected following feedback from councillors.

We would now like to undertake a consultation to confirm that these nominations are suitable for residents. Following the outcome of the consultation, the anonymised data can then be shared with Cambridgeshire County Council, to support or withdraw the applications.

A 20mph limit will be prioritised against the following criteria:

โ€ข evidence of traffic incidents or potential dangers within an existing 30/40mph zone
โ€ข vulnerable road users
โ€ข visible homes, shops and businesses
โ€ข a school or a school route
โ€ข a cycling route
โ€ข an area that would benefit from more active travel such as cycling and walking.
Schemes deemed eligible for the 2023/24 window will be approved in September, with construction taking place between April and August 2024.

If you would like to take part in the public consultation, please complete our online survey at https://www.smartsurvey.co.uk/s/JJ3ESG/,

Alternatively you can comment below, or email [email protected]. Paper forms are available to collect from the Town Hall.

Due to the timely nature of the 20mph application process, this public consultation will be open for three weeks from Monday 29th May 2023 to Sunday 18th June 2023.

A year ago today I was elected as a Councillor. Something I genuinely didn't think was going to happen despite lots of hard work engaging with residents and trying to persuade people to go out and vote, even if it wasn't a vote for me. So when I heard the result I went into a state of shock for about a week, before I took on the steepest learning curve of my life!

The picture shows just how much Cllr Nathan Hunt and I have achieved in this year, though it doesn't cover everything! Very grateful to have had his support and friendship as we tackled the new challenges together. Very proud of everything we have done to serve the community and the district.

And thank you to the many many people who helped in my campaign, who have helped at HDC while I found my feet, who guide me with my social media presence, my fellow Hunts East team, and so much more. Can't name you all as there's too many of you, but I thank you so much.

And lastly, thank you to the residents I serve. For giving me the opportunity to do this! Excited to see what the next year brings Xx

A busy week ahead for us Huntingdonshire District Councillors - at full council on Wednesday Cllr Nathan Hunt and I have a lot on the agenda, including the budget for the year ahead and a climate strategy. Interesting stuff!

It's also time for the monthly surgery on the Market Square on Saturday, 11:30 to 12:30, so if you want to come and have a chat with a Councillor, that's a good time and place to do it ๐Ÿ˜‰
