Happy Coronation Day everyone! 👑🐾
Only one day left to go… what are your plans for the Coronation Weekend? 👑🐾
Totally forgot to share the final update of Sammy’s portrait! What a happy expression he has, clearly loving his jumping 😍
This handsome boy was such a delight to draw, he was only 6x6 inches so some sharp pencil tips required for all those tiny details (the pencils in the first image aren’t to scale).
I would love to know what you think of the finished piece ✍🏼 If you would like your own portrait like this one, you can get in touch with me via email [email protected] or DM me on here and I will be happy to help.

The cards are here and they are stunning! 😍😍😌
All orders will be going out tomorrow. I only have a handful of these left now so if you would like any, please don’t delay 🥰
Just a wee heads up that I’ve now placed the order with my printers for the ‘Crown Fit For a King’ greetings cards and they should be with me this week.
I opted for a soft cream envelope this time with a hammered texture as it felt a bit more regal than the Kraft 💌
Thank you so much for your orders! Out of the ordered cards I only have about 20 individual cards left for sale so if you would like some I’ll pop the link below 🥰
Smile! The sun’s shining ☀️😍 I'd love to see some pictures of your pets enjoying the nice weather.
Printing Coronation prints this afternoon! I always love this process, seeing a print come to life in front of my eyes like magic never gets old 👑✨
Getting all the details in…
Happy Monday! 😊👑
‘St Edward’s Crown’ part of the Coronation Collection of prints.
The creation of ‘A Crown Fit for a King’ 👑
Two work in progress photos and some of the rough sketches I did in the early stages. These are quick, unreferenced drawings using a sketch pad and pencil, not paying too much attention to anatomy or shading but just working out ideas for where to go with the piece. Some of them don’t look Jack Russell-y at all and I was torn between whether to go for a smooth or rough coated JRT. My first idea was to have the Jack Russell sitting down with one foreleg up and his head tilted back over his shoulder, ‘smiling’ with the crown slipping half off his head.
However, I wasn’t convinced that this would lend enough royal gravitas to a commemorative piece, and so, with this direction in mind, went on the hunt for the perfect reference photo that captured the poise and personality I wanted.
As soon as I found the reference I eventually used I fell in love with the bright eyes, pricked ears and cheeky demeanour of the subject and just knew I had to draw it! 🥰
This piece was drawn in coloured pencil on Fabriano Artistico paper.
To make composition easier I drew the dog and the crown separately. This allowed me to get right into the nitty gritty details of the St Edward’s Crown and its glittering jewels by drawing the crown at a larger scale than would have otherwise been possibly.
After scanning, I combined these two drawings into a single cohesive piece with the terrier placing his paw upon the crown 👑 (this also means I will be releasing a plain JRT print at some point in the near future).
To celebrate the upcoming coronation, commemorative prints of this piece are now available on my website, in limited edition of just 50. Thank you so much if you have already ordered your copy! ❤️
'A Crown Fit for a King' 👑 New release!
For the first time in 70 years, a new monarch will be crowned upon the British throne. I wanted to mark this important event in British history with some art to celebrate it - with my own four-pawed spin on it of course! 🐾
This piece has been long in the making. I knew that I definitely wanted to draw a Jack Russell, the breed most closely associated with King Charles (he and Camilla adopted their beloved JRTs Beth and Bluebell from Battersea Dogs Home in 2017). But, it was important to me that I incorporated not just the royal crown, but also the spark of happiness, pride, and that famously cheeky JRT personality into the drawing, and so I set about drawing many pages of rough sketches and diving deep into reference image searches, trying to hit on the right idea.
Although I loved the idea of my canine subject wearing a crown, perhaps slipping down over his eye, I couldn't find a way to draw it without it looking a bit goofy which wasn't the tone I wanted to set for this commemorative drawing. Even a mischievous JRT needs some gravitas sometimes! But, pawing the crown...hmm, yes, that would work.
The crown drawn here is St Edward's Crown, named after Edward the Confessor and associated with coronations since the 13th Century. The current iteration of the crown dates back to 1661 for the coronation of another Charles (second of his name -with a much longer hairdo and a penchant for spaniels rather than terriers). It will be used during the coronation service in Westminster Abbey, placed upon Charles' head whereupon he will be crowned King.
I suspect only a cheeky Jack Russell could get away with pawing at the Crown Jewels! 👑
The Coronation Collection comprises of two new pieces:
'A Crown Fit for a King' is a special Limited Edition commemorative print of a Jack Russell Terrier and St Edward's Crown, totalling just 50 hand signed and numbered copies.
'St Edward's Crown' is a Collector's Edition commemorative print of the coronation crown and is hand signed.
Mounting is optional and will be mounted by my fantastic local framers Emma & Andy at the Framery.

👑 Something very regal is launching this weekend… 👑✨
I have been away from social media for a while for a much needed mental health break and reset but I’ve certainly not stopped drawing ✍🏼 I have lots to share with you all in the coming weeks.
We are only 2 weeks away from the biggest royal event in 70 years and I couldn’t let it pass by without creating a commemorative piece for this momentous occasion.
I have had the idea for this drawing in mind for a long time and it’s been so much fun to draw - I love how it’s all come together. Fittingly regal, but with plenty of charm and personality 🥰
This will be a very special limited edition print release to commemorate the upcoming coronation on 6th May. 👑
Here’s a sneak peek before I unveil the full thing tomorrow (which will be via my ‘webbsight’ newsletter initially, so please head over there and join if you would like to be first to view the full piece and get your hands on a limited edition print).
💥 Any guesses which breed of dog this might be? *hint* it’s not a corgi but think royal dogs…
💥It’s been a surprise five months in the making BUT I can FINALLY reveal… ⠀
⠀
Not only my BIGGEST and most technically challenging portrait yet, but also its recipient, a lady who I’m sure many of you will recognise and who needs no introduction to those in the equestrian sphere… 🌟⠀
⠀
💥 The one and only Ingrid Klimke 🏇🏼⠀
⠀
Legendary top eventing & dressage rider, dual Olympic medalist, and now owner of my artwork 😍🤩⠀
⠀
Honoured to present this special portrait of Ingrid’s horses Butts Abraxxas and Weisse Düne today in front of the crowd at her Masterclass in Edinburgh 🏴
Butts Abraxxas, or Braxxi he was known, is the dark bay in this drawing. Though small in stature, and in Ingrid’s own words an unreliable showjumper, his heart and spirit made him a brave and talented eventer. He and Ingrid rode to success at some of the sport’s most prestigious 3-day events, including Olympic team gold in 2008 and 2012, and twenty top-10 finishes at CCI4* and CCI5* level 🇩🇪 ⠀
He retired at Burghley in 2013 and spent his leisure days out in the field with his best friend Weisse Düne, herself a talented top-level eventer.
This portrait depicts them both enjoying a chilly winter’s day with a cascade of snowflakes on their muzzles ❄️ ⠀
Sadly, Braxxi passed away in 2022. So this is a heartfelt memorial to a very special horse, who gave Ingrid and all who watched him so much joy, as well as a celebration of all Weisse Düne has and will go on to achieve in future. I hope you adore it Ingrid ❤️
I would like to say a HUGE thank you to Abby Equestrian Management Agency for asking me to create this special surprise for Ingrid, and inviting me to present it to her here in Scotland 🏴 It has been an honour and a joy.
🙋♀️ Not to toot my own horn too much but I just want to give a little shoutout/celebration of how far my art journey has come 🎉 From my days doodling horses and watching Badminton & Burghley on the TV, to now creating a portrait for Ingrid Klimke herself, it’s been a dream come true - who would have thought it? Flippin’ eck 😅 ⠀
More photos to come later inc WIPs, closeups & pro shots from the day 🥰⠀

Here's another update on stunning Sammy, who was gifted at Christmas to ❤️ I loved working on this piece! The reference photo showed Sammy at his most athletic during cross country, and so I had the opportunity to draw all of his muscles bunched and taut over the jump. A nice exercise in equine anatomy 😎 The thing I love most about this though are his pricked ears, you can really see how much Sammy adores his job.
What do you think so far?
6x6" coloured pencil drawing, part of my 'Illustrative' commission offering. I’ve popped a photo of my drawing setup in the comments!
Following on from my video earlier, here's a work in progress photo of Sammy, who was gifted as a surprise at Christmas ❤️ He is one of my 'Illustrative' (aka 'mini') portraits at just 6x6" in size. Packing a lot of detail into a small area 😍
Watch this with sound on for calming vibes ❤️ Here I'm drawing beautiful Sammy, who was gifted to Jemima Cotswold Fox Clothing at Christmas.
Pin sharp pencils and a gorgeous horse make me a very happy artist. You may notice that I turn the pencil every so often, this to get the sharpest point for those tiny details. He's just 6x6" in size so a lot to condense into a small area.
I hope you found a small moment of calm watching this, let me know if you did 😌🥰
Wishing you a Happy New Year 💫✨
2022 was tough for many reasons, notably the losses of 3 beloved dogs, Flint, May and Tara, and my wonderful heart horse Ridge. All are much missed ❤️
It has also brought happiness, with the addition of Bizzy the horse and Flynn the dog to our family, and art wise, some pieces I am really proud of and an improvement in mindset towards my work in general.
Thank you for your support over the last year, I truly appreciate it. I’ve loved drawing your animals this year and meeting you at events and markets this Christmas. It brings me such joy being able to share my art with you, especially special bespoke portraits, and I’m also blown away with gratitude whenever someone purchases a print. So thank you, lots, from the bottom of my heart ❤️
Here’s hoping that 2023 behaves itself a bit better than the last and brings good things to us all.
I’ve bridged the last day of the previous year and the first day of the next by beginning an exciting new equestrian pastel piece today - top secret for now, but it’s a big one.
Enjoy yourselves this evening - cosy and quiet one in for me - just like Minnow! ⭐️
Glass Onion and a very cosy dog by the fire. Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas 🎄❤️ xx
