As you are all probably aware by now that we unfortunately lost both of our NHS Contracts that we tendered for 4 years ago to start any new treatment plans, which ceased on 31 March 2022. We have accepted a Wind Down Contract for both of our practices which means that any patients who are in active treatment (with an appliance fitted) will continue to have their appointments with us at the Ilkley practice, until the end of their treatment. Any patients who had been referred to the hospital will be passed onto the new providers to continue with their treatment with them. Any patients who were on a recall for a review appointment, but not started any treatment, have been referred back to their referring dentists to be rereferred to the new providers through the Referral Management System (RMS). Any patient on a waiting list to start treatment were referred back to the Referral Management System so that they would be offered a new patient appointment with the new providers. Those patients who have had teeth removed or other dental procedures in order to start treatment, but do not have any appliance fitted as yet, have been sent onto the new providers as a "priority transfer" ready to start treatment with them. The new providers are slowly getting through the large number of patients that need to transfer to them, and we are helping as much as possible during this transition period. All clinical notes, xrays and photographs have been securely transfered to the new providers now for both practices and it is now a case of waiting for them to contact you directly. In March this year NHS England sent out a letter to all those patients held on the waiting lists to the addresses we held on file. The letter asked patients waiting for treatment to contact them by phone to validate their unique reference number in the letter (URN), to confirm that they still wanted NHS treatment. The numbers began with a YAH or YRK at the front of them. This URN number relates to the patient and will continue with them throughout their orthodontic treatment with the new providers. Once you have this number you can go on line at www.dental-referrals.org/patients/track-a-referral and input the number to track the progress of your orthodontic treatment. If you have lost or thrown your letter away email [email protected] to explain that you've validated the letter to say you want treatment but mislaid the letter and they should be able to confirm your URN number. If you have not received a letter then it may be that your contact details have changed and you need to update them. Alot of patients think that if they've updated their new address or phone number with their dentist, then it is automatically passed o to us. This is not the case so please make sure you let us know too. There are still waiting times for treatment and everyone will eventually get an appointment but it may take a while. We look forward to seeing our patients who are in active treatment and we wish the new providers all the very best in ensuring that our patients are offered treatment very soon. If you have any other queries please do not hesitate to get in touch but please note that our phone lines are extremely busy at the moment and it may take a while to get through. Please be polite to the other person who answers your calls as they are only doing their job and trying to give you as much information as possible. We thank all of our patients for their continued support during this transition period. The Practice Manager Regent Orthodontics

We are very disappointed to have to inform you that after tendering some 4 years ago for the renewal of our NHS Contracts for both practices, the contracts have been awarded to another provider. Some of you will already be aware of this and others will have heard rumours circulating. We have taken a Wind Down Contract over the next three years in order to still see those patients that are currently in active treatment with us; and these patients will continue to finish their treatment under the care of Mr Damian Petrucci. Those patients who are on the waiting list to start treatment will be transferred to the new provider who will be opening from the 1 April 2022. Those patients who have been referred onto the hospitals as part of your treatment will be transferred as a priority to the new provider to continue with your treatment. Those patients who are in the process of having extractions done with their referring dentists will be transferred as priority cases to the new providers to continue with their treatment plan. Any patients who have recently had their next appointments cancelled, who are not in any treatment, will be transferred to the new provider. We can only continue to treat those patients who are in active treatment with appliances already fitted as we are already over our allocated funding for the current financial year and no more funding is available to continue any further new start cases. Please be reassured that all patients will be mobilized as smoothly as possible by NHS England and the Local Area Team. Although the new providers are due to open from the 1st April, there will be a slight delay in them making contact with yourselves. They are unable to give any indication of how long patients will be waiting for treatment but we have been reassured that patients will be called in date order from the date of their original referral from their referring dentist. Any person who has turned 18+ years whilst waiting for treatment, will have their treatment honoured if they still meet the guidelines for NHS treatment. For those patients who are in active treatment with us (have already started treatment with us and have an appliance fitted), Mr Damian Petrucci will continue your treatment at our Ilkley practice. There are no clinics at either of our practices this week and we reopen as normal on Monday 4 April 2022, whilst we prepare to continue with the Wind Down Contract. All appointments from Monday 4 April 2022 will be at our Ilkley address 2a Regent Road, Ilkley, LS29 9EA . Should you have any queries or an emergency, please contact us on 01943 604402. We look forward to seeing you soon.
Please ensure you are still wearing your mask for all appointments at our practice as we are a clinical setting which unfortunately Boris forgot to mention. Thank you

Good morning everyone. I am writing this post to reassure all our patients about the waiting lists at both of our practices. This follows a post from a parent on our page on Tuesday with their concerns and frustrations about the NHS waiting list. I confirm that NO ONE has been removed from the waiting lists that we have. All patients are still on the waiting list in the order that they were put onto it. In April last year, during the lockdown, NHS England decided to set up a new Central Referral System for dentist's to refer patients to all orthodontic practices to replace the paper referral process. All orthodontic practices with an NHS contract in the Yorkshire & Humber region were asked to submit a copy of their waiting lists to them and all of of the patients were put onto this new system in the date order that they were put onto the practices system following their initial appointment with us confirming they were eligible for NHS treatment at that time. The capacity of referrals to the Bradford practice far exceeded the funding being received and because of the high number of referrals that were eligible to bypass the waiting list and to start treatment straight away, using the annual funding allocated, the waiting list at the Bradford practice came to a standstill, with us being unable to take any patients off the current waiting list. Mr Petrucci made the decision to close the waiting list at the Bradford practice over 18 months ago in order to try and start taking patients off the waiting list without causing any further delays. NHS England were informed and NHS England wrote to all referring dentist's in the area that we were not taking on any more patients at the Bradford practice. Local referring dentist's were informed about this directly from NHS England. I confirm that we are re-tendering for our NHS Contracts, with all other practices who have an NHS Contract, at both practices. The re-tendering started in 2018 and has been ongoing since then, and we are still no further on. A lot of hard work has gone into the tendering process for both practices, and it has been a very stressful process for everyone involved with it, and extremely frustrating for Mr Petrucci who has built both practices up over the years. We were requested not to discuss this directly with patients while this process is on going and that all patients would be notified when the tendering process was finalised. Patients will still continue to receive their treatment at the practices and remain on waiting lists for treatment. If we were to loose our contracts then there would be a wind down process whereby patients care would be handed over to another orthodontist to finalise their treatment plans. No patients treatment, or pending treatment, would be jeopardized. I confirm NO ONE has been removed from any waiting list because of the tendering process. We appreciate that waiting for treatment is extremely frustrating for all of you and want you to know that it is also frustrating for us, as we are only wanting to provide a good service for our patients. It's very disheartening that having built two excellent practices up over the years that this could all then be taken away from us. We agree, the waiting times are rediculous, but we can only work with what we have. Putting negative feedback is extremely unfair on other patients and our hard-working staff, without following this up directly with the management of the practice if you've been unhappy with a response. We all have enough negatively at the moment, whilst we are desparately trying to fight for what's best for our patients and their care. We have always put all of our patients first! If you would like to contact us with any concerns please email [email protected] or [email protected] and we will come back to you. We thank you all for your patience and support. Julie Bastow Practice Manager
Congratulations to our newly qualified Orthodontic Therapist, Bethany Tallant who is at our Bradford practice. I am sure you would all like to join the staff at Regent Orthodontics in wishing her well and she's looking forward to seeing everyone soon. A huge thank you also to the patients who have allowed Beth to treat them during her recent training.
Clinics cancelled Friday 15 January 2020 due to the treacherous road conditions and staff and not able to get into work today. Therefore, we are cancelling all appointments today. Following the Prime Ministers announcement on Saturday evening, we are awaiting clarification as to the position of dental services during the four week period of further restrictions from 5 November 2020. Based on the Government's guidance published so far it is our intension to operate as at present and we will therefore NOT be closing. Our team have risen to the challenges during the pandemic and we are delivering vital care whilst ensuring the safety of our staff and patients. Should this change at any point we will let everyone know. Please note we are still in the process of rebooking patients that had their appointments cancelled and offering emergency appointments. Thank you for your patience and understanding.
Just to keep you updated:
We've had a number of enquires regarding new patient appointments, unfortunately due to the current situation with Covid-19, we are not taking on any new NHS or Private patients at the moment. All patients currently in active treatment will be contacted in due course to rebook their cancelled appointments and we're trying to do this in date order. We thank you for your patience.
Also, a gentle reminder, if you have any coughs, colds, sore throats or symptoms of Covid-19, please cancel your appointment and DO NOT attend the practice otherwise you will be turned away. This ensures the safety of our staff and allows us to continue to provide a service for you.
