Hannah Cambridge - illustration
Designer of illustrative gifts, shop owner at 102 High street, workshop leader and all round art gal. I specialise in animal illustration's and water colour.
I am open for commissions and freelance work.
Wanted to have a wee play around with this design and see if I could make it in to a repeating pattern for some tea towels, this is my first time using the scale method when making a pattern and I feel like it would look great on the back of fabric but I’m not sure how it’s hitting as a stand alone piece.
This is the part of design work that folk never usually see and forget about, designers need time to figure out what works and what doesn’t before we get it perfect. Sometimes it hits us the first go, and sometimes we need time in our brains to mull things over, sometimes we need to experiment and sometimes we just have to take a break.
What do you think?
Morning all! Studio will be open 10-4 today and tomorrow.
I just wanted to ask you all if you’d like me to put on some workshops?
The past two years I’ve lead pottery workshops, courses, painting classes, 1x1 step by step tutoring. And honestly I love how many possibilities there are when it comes to workshops.
Which is also what confuses me, so I thought I’d put a call out. What would you like to attend? Would you be more interested in affordable short 2-3 week courses, or more interested in BYOB low intensity workshops?
Pottery, painting or crafting?
Parents & children workshops?
I would like to put on a few workshops over September - December.
Is Thursday evenings still a preferred slot?
Let me know in the comments!
So I’ve seen so many other artists do this over the years and I’ve always wanted to give it a go, I had some time today and because I’ve started having new followers, I’ve met a lot of new customers lately I thought now would be a great time to share a little about me illustration. You all know my painting and pottery stuff so I thought I’d include a lot of none art related information. Nice to meet you all! This is me on a slab of digital parchment. 👋🏻 🤝
Studio will be open later than usual this morning, I have the dentist.
Pray for me.
Thank you Watten Helps Out for my first workshop! And thank you to everyone who came down, the tables were a little sticky but we managed! Here’s a lovely little array of everyone’s pieces, I hope everyone had a great time 🙂
Last chance to get booked on, I’ll be throwing all of the mugs today.
Morning folkies!
I’ll be running workshops with Watten Helps Out at the Watten hall in a week, a great couple of family friendly workshops and fully funded!
These are the first non private workshops I’ve done this year and I’m so excited, for the vessel glazing workshop I’ll pre-throw basic shapes and slightly dry them in advance so that you can cut in to, add sculptures, a handle, turn your vessel in to a mug, small vase, jug, it’s up to you. Once decided you’ll be able to paint your designs on to your own vessel.
Plaster art workshop!
I tried this workshop a few years ago with the PPP group and they raved about how easy and fun it was, also feels experimental and unique. Using found flowers, pinecones, natural materials or just simply carving your own design, we will turn it in to plaster casts.
To book please get in contact with the details in the poster.
Book book book! I’d love my first workshop of the year to fully sell out 🤞🏻
These last few weeks have been so good, go, go. A total of 745 miles in 7 days, 47 sales in 3 days, sold out of every A5 print, all of the last tea towels, tunnocks tea cakes A4, A3 and greetings card, every “Light Me Up” greetings card, half of my small selection of ceramics and not to mention 2 commissions. And I only restocked all of my prints and cards two weeks ago 🥹 The best selling week of the whole year so far.
So I decided to close the studio this weekend as well for a few reasons, I’m honestly needing a little break, it’s our one year anniversary this weekend and I would like to spend it with our family and husband 🥰 2, I sold out of a tonne of stuff, the shop will just look empty until I make a few more reorders of things, and lastly I have workshops in just shy of 2 weeks! I’ll promo them this weekend and send you all out an email with what’s happening and how to be involved.
But for now, I quickly drew this up for our own bathroom today 😂 I am in a weird phase that I really want to girlie-fy our house, so the bathroom is pink, red and orange. And I basically had to do it.
Studio will be closed this weekend, sorry!
If you planned on popping out for any reasons other than viewing the shop give me a message 🙂
Mainly all set up! 🎉🎉🎉
Orkney & Shetland maps 🎉🎉🎉 after painting Stroma I’ve been asked about all of the other amazing Scottish islands so I’m working my way through as many as I can :)
I’ve currently got a “day off” today but sat down and got a few more pieces done on the IPad, tomorrow I’ll be in the studio printing more pieces and hoping I can bulk up a few sections with some new mini prints for Aberdeen.
Here and ready for the 🎉🎉🎉 hopefully the weather stays decent, this is my first time ever at the Highland Games let alone exhibiting at it so I’m super excited!
This weekend!

Sorry for any inconvenience, the online shop is working fine though and if you fancy a terracotta pot just give me a shout.
The Studio is open as usual Today and Tomorrow, I’ve got a new delivery of cards and tomorrow there should be a very special terracotta pot delivery from the kiln 🥰 I’m unfortunately closed this Saturday as I’ll be down in Inverness at a gig! What a lovely day finally it is to pop to the studio after you’ve done your vote!
Does anyone else ever look at a coneflower on gardening websites and automatically think they have the same shape as a Tunnock Tea Cake? Because that’s what I did today after finishing a version 1 sketch that’s awaiting approval. Don’t really know what I’m going to do with this design honestly, I can’t think of a phrase to add to it for a greetings card, I’m not sure how it would look as a print, plus it’s completely digital and not my usual print style. But it’s a doodle that got out of hand. Not sure 🤷🏼♀️
I’ve noticed my feed is all very Blue and Green, which is great because they are my favourite colours and my favourite to paint with. But it’s not all I do! I’ve designed this time for cake wrapping paper and greetings card design, very much loved by everyone who comes in to contact with it, for good reason, can be used for any occasion, is colourful and unique while also being relatable because everyone loves a good bitty o cake.

Wrapping paper - £2.75
Greetings cards - £3.50
bundle for both - £5

Shut tomorrow!
3 days of throwing in a row, painting all week and packing to unpack the whole shop for stalls has taken its toll on the shop, it needs a right good clean, sort and rearrange. Usually I would do this on Sundays but I’ve needed those 1 days off a week these last few weeks. So tomorrow is going to be a clean slate. Online shop is still open for a browse and the shop will reopen Friday as normal.
Just a wee Stroma Island illustration I finally got round to painting and drawing today. 🙂 I always LOVE driving past Stroma, it makes you feel extra tiny knowing that a whole island can fit inside a passenger car window as you drive by, I especially love the drive to and seeing Stroma while I eat cake. Probably one of my fave past times honestly.
Ps I have changed the typo on the real image 🫠😅
I’ve been updating my wholesale catalogue since last time I owned a wholesale catalogue was before Covid 🤯 and I completely forgot about 3 designs I own, have and continue to sell 3 foot away from my desk. It’s crazy how quickly you forget you’ve done something you’ve spent time and effort in to, and actually love how you did the thing. But I love how I do so many things that they sometimes just…seep out of my brain like warm jelly.
Anyway, WHOLESALE CATALOGUE woo, it’s a thing. I will be uncontrollably emailing it to all of my favourite places, old stockists and stockists who have asked me for years to get one together and have stood with me in my frazzle of starting my own shop. If you’d like one, please message or email and I’ll pop you over the link.
Let’s pay a little bit of attention to the design that always puts a smile on folks faces, the most touched and best seller I’ve ever had. Bottoms up is a great design because it doesn’t just receive love from sea swimmers, but from lovers of celebration and lovers of cheeky humor. And there’s always someone in the friends or family group that’s a sea swimmer.
It probably helps too that they’re such beautiful wee women too. If I don’t say so myself ☺️
I sell cards and prints of this design but if you’d like her on something else give me a shout and I’ll have a look in to it 🤔
Look at my jugs! My jugs are big, and small. My jugs have oranges on them. My jugs are great.
If you would like to hold my jugs, you can purchase them on my website or in my shop from this Thursday coming. Large Jug is £30 and small jugs are £17.50 each.
Half way through market! What a great day it is and so exciting to be the furthest south I’ve been in a very long time for a retail related market!
Morning all! The studio will be shut this weekend, I’m packing today, traveling down to fife tomorrow and attending the market on Saturday so the studio will be closed. I’ll be back open next weekend, but if you fancy still purchasing a few bittys my website is up to date with everything in the studio.
An oldie but a goodie.
This print was painted and created back in 2019 as an extension of the Backlass project I gave myself when I first started painting again. It’s been with me to almost every market and stall I’ve ever done and it’s always popular during the summer months. I went through a phase of thinking because I’d seen this piece so much, and because I thought it was old, because I thought it was past its best and because I’d thought I’d paint it better now if I were to redo it. That it wasn’t worth showcasing but actually, just because I’ve become so familiar with this piece, doesn’t mean it’s not new to everyone who sees it for the first time. So I just wanted to give this piece a shout out.
Hello all,
Just wanted to pop on and say I've finally updated the online shop with all of my newer prints and ceramic pieces. If you would like to have a look and or support me if you can't come and visit the studio!
