Various businesses are located within Two/8 (independent) Studios. 'Two/8 Studios' is the name given to the building. Pop in and see us!😃
These businesses are - Cabar Feidh Bagpipes, What's On Highland, Alba Media, Hesling Music, MB Studios (music) We are a group of artists/makers, designers, musicians and bag pipe suppliers😀 who have come together under one roof! We are independent businesses in the centre of the Old Town, Inverness in one building, under the banner - Two/8 Studios. This is a unique situation in the city which is developing all the time. We are professional businesses with a passion for what we love doing.
Clockmaker is a not-for-profit repair project and social enterprise, based on the second floor of Two:8 Studios.
Please remember that this is not a business, and I am not a dealer or a trader. I am just an experienced mechanical engineer with a passion for horology and repair, offering to assist other collectors and clock lovers for no profit. I do it for pleasure.
Provided you are not in a rush, I offer a comparable service to the one you will find in any high street but with a passion you will find infectious!
I provide a 12-month guarantee and have no overheads.
I have the experience and the right tools but no retail store, no commercial workshops, and no insurance. It must be understood that anything you choose to leave with me for repair is left at your own risk. I accept no liability for loss or damage however caused, so please check that your own insurance provides proper protection.
I repair most types and sizes of clocks from small carriage clocks to grandfather clocks, right through to large public clocks. I will attempt anything from standard wall and mantle clocks to cuckoo clocks, anniversary clocks and electric-mechanical clocks. I will also attempt anything from house or garden (toys, models, tools, sewing machines, etc) that require repair or restoration.
I have always preferred emails to phone calls because they do not interrupt my working day. Also, email is especially useful if you have photographs to show me. Please do not arrive at my workshop without arrangement, as you will not get an answer. I could be out or busy in my noisy workshop.
If there is something I could do for you, or even if this just strikes a chord and would like to know more, please drop me a line at [email protected], text 07768 213082 or send me a direct message on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/inverness.clockmaker. 😁
A final word about payment. I do not charge for my services. However, if you feel that I have provided a good enough service, then please feel free to provide a donation for whatever sum that you can afford either via cash, cheque, or BACS electronic payment. Any sum would be most welcome. Donations received go back into supporting the purposes of Clockmaker.
Inverness Piping Society is back on again next week. Our featured piper is Les Hutt, so should be a great night. Get yourself along for a listen. If you play, then why not bring your pipes along for a tune as well
Hi folks, our next meeting is on Wednesday 9th November. Our featured piper this month is Les Hutt.
Brought up in the then mining community of Prestonpans, Les had the opportunity to learn the bagpipes through the local Monktonhall Colliery Pipe Band, and has played in pipe bands through all the grades over the years.
After a hiatus for University, he ended up in Fort William where an encounter with Dr John MacAskill led to over 20 years studying piobaireachd together and competing throughout Scotland.
He had planned to enter the 2020 Mod in Inverness as his last solo contest, but was thwarted by the Covid Crisis. He persevered and finished at Glenfinnan this year, having competed in six decades. Playing small pipes and reelpipes has widened his musical life in recent years, playing in various ceilidh bands
Come along and listen to some fantastic piping from Les, hope to see you alll there
Cabar Fèidh Bagpipe Supplies are one of the businesses located within Two:8 Studios. You can often hear fine Highland music coming from their shop. Brian Yates & Andrew MacLennan both teach the bagpipes within the shop.
In-fact for anyone interested in learning music TWO:8 studios is a good place to learn. On the floor above Cabar Feidh Ben Hesling of Hesling Music offers tuition in Guitar & Bass
