We showed a great team spirit, didn't let our heads drop & have some positives that we can take forward with us. Well played guys 👏🏻🏒

Unfortunately due to unforeseen circumstances the Aberdeen Northstars are unable to make the trip down this Saturday. The game will now be rescheduled in the new year. Meaning the 2023 season has come to a premature end! We will be having our in-house Christmas scrimmage instead.
Thank you for all your continued support through out the year & we can't wait to get going again in 2024 🏒

The Canes faced a fired up Aberdeen Predators in what was a very tough game all round. In the end the Canes lost 12-6, Unfortunately all the stops for penalties killed any momentum for us.
For the first time in a long time we saw a game with more pentalty minutes than goals 😅

The Hurricanes faced a full strength Warriors team who are 3teirs higher in the reccie set up in what we knew would be a tough game. Despite losing we made some great plays, gave 110% from start to finish & Scored 6 goals. We now look forward to facing the Aberdeen Predators on the 25th. Thank you to The Warriors Ice Hockey Club for a clean passing game.

Letter to all member clubs across Scottish Ice hockey.
REF: Player Safety Review and Action Plan in response to the tragic passing of Nottingham Panthers player #47 Adam Johnson, after an on ice incident.
Dear Members,
It is without question an extremely sad moment in time for our sport across the world and a stark reminder of our, and your duties as custodians of the sport. Like all sports, “it is only sport”, and the safety of our players must be our first priority. We have an absolute duty to do everything within our power to prevent a tragic accident like this from ever happening in our sport again.
With this in mind, and the need for short, medium and long term action, Scottish Ice Hockey have made the decision to carry out the following steps:
1. SHORT TERM (Immediate): Scottish Ice Hockey make a “strong recommendation” that all players at all levels across Scottish Ice Hockey use an approved Ice Hockey Neck Guard/Protector whilst participating in all on ice activities. (This “strong recommendation” is in place until 31 December 2023, after which it will become a mandatory requirement. It is not mandatory with immediate effect due to anticipated supply issues. This will be under constant review between now and mandatory implementation.) All protective equipment must be worn without alterations and as directed by the manufacturers’ specification.
2. MEDIUM TERM (Within 12 Months): Scottish Ice Hockey, in consultation with relevant stakeholders, will conduct a Player Safety Equipment thorough review considering all aspects of player safety equipment including, but not limited to, the use of helmets, mouthguards/gumshields and facial protection, and the application of IIHF rules.
3. LONG TERM (Ongoing): Scottish Ice Hockey will provide its membership with clear guidance on the ongoing and continuous improvement of Player Safety and their duties within this area. This will include the requirement for all clubs to be able to demonstrate that they proactively manage Player Safety within their organisations.
It is unacceptable that any player loses their life playing our sport and it is incumbent upon us to do all we can to prevent a repeat of this tragic accident, but also to prevent other foreseeable incidents in the future. We have a legal and moral duty to respond in a measured and practical way. It is highly possible that other reviews will take place at an international level and Scottish Ice Hockey will participate proactively in this process.
Yours faithfully
JOHN COLLEY – SIH CHAIRMAN
Everyone at the Hurricanes are deeply shocked & saddened to hear of the passing of Nottingham Panthers player Adam Johnson #47 after a freak accident during last nights challenge cup game agaist the Sheffield Steelers.
All our thoughts are with Adam’s family, partner, friends & everyone involved.
New season incoming...
Next up for the Canes is the annual north stars tournament on the 3/4th of June as we look to retain our 2nd tier title 🤞🏻
Next up for the Canes is a trip through to the Moray Leisure Centre on Saturday 6th May to take on the RAF Lossiemouth Jets Ice Hockey Club! It's promises to be a close & exciting game as always 🏒
Inverness Hurricanes IHC traveled to Dumfries Ice Bowl at the weekend to take part in Scottish Ice Hockey Annual Bowl Tournament. Here's our weekend review.
First Game
Belfast Foxes 4 - 3 Canes
Getting used to a big ice pad at 9am wasn't an easy feat for either team, and with 2 seconds left on the clock the Foxes stole the win with a powerplay goal.

Second Game
Canes 6 -0 Ayrshire Amazons Ice Hockey Team
Finally found our big ice legs and range of passing to take the victory against the Amazon's, who despite the score line defended valiantly throughout.

#85 Euan "Bar Down" MacGregor 2
#00 Elvis Lukstins 1

Shut out #39 Terry Christie
Third Game
Canes 0-0 Hamilton Hawks
This was a tense affair with the goalies seeing alot of the puck, but the forwards not being able to capitalise.
Shut out #39 Terry Christie
Fourth Game
Canes 1 - 0 Caps B
The battle of Inverness, another tense affair with the canes needing to win by 2 clear goals to progress to the Semis, unfortunately it wasn't to be with the Caps having an excellent goaltender in Mike McPherson, it could have been a different story if not for him. But the caps put up a great defensive overall to progress to the semis.
Shut out #39 Terry Christie.
Over all the weekend was a success, plenty laughs, plenty booze and most of all the Craic was excellent throughout.
The only trophy to be collected for the Canes was the Top Goalie award going to Terry Christie, with 3 shutouts, some top drawer saves and an overall save percentage of 92.3%.
But the season isn't over yet folks, Saturday 6th May at 7pm we take to "Home ice" in Elgin to face off against our old buddies from Aberdeen, the North Stars.
Then to round the season off we play in the Annual North Stars Summer Cup on 3rd/4th Of June looking to defend our Crown of being Tier 2 Champs last season.
🎉Congratulations🎉
Congratulations to our goaltender Terry Christie for been awarded goalie of the Scottish bowl tournament 2023. With 3 shut outs & plenty of incredible saves it was well deserved. Well done bud 👏🏻
1-0 win vs Highland Capitals Ice Hockey Club wasn't enough to see the canes threw.
