Tuesday and Thursday Scouts have been doing Environmental and Conservation nights this week, which started off with a quick walk across the road to Sustainable Roots Kintore.
Carole gave them an informative tour of the shop, explained why they do what they do and the benefits to sustainability in how we buy food.

The scouts then did a quiz to learn more about how they can reduce their impact on our environment. A good fun evening of learning.

Cub parents

Please check with leaders if there is enough adult help in place for meetings. This is especially important this week as we are cooking with the Cubs. It is always good to have extra help on these nights.

Welcome to Angus and Ezra who joined us for their first night as a Cubs.

We finished off with s’mores as we started back to allowing the holidays.

Congratulations to Atticus on receiving his Chief Scout’s Bronze Award. A great way to start the new term

COMMUNITY SUPPORT: 8 years / leader given voluntarily to supporting your children

I know parents and carers have to balance their priorities and time. We all have busy lives and struggle to fit everything in. However, there are people who have dedicated their lives to helping your children, who need your support. Ahead of the AGM tonight (21/08/24) at 7pm, I was looking at the adult records of the current leaders. The Kintore team consists of 17 leaders who have volunteered for a total of 138 years. That's 8 years per leader, helping to deliver 6 evenings of activities for Beavers, Cubs and Scouts. Any one of them could step away from Scouting with their heads held high, having made a significant contribution to the local community.

None of the leaders want to do this, but without your support, they may need a break for personal reasons. Of the 100+ parents and guardians associated with the group, only a small group is committed to delivering an exciting program for the Youth Members. It doesn't need to be a weekly commitment, keeping badge records up to date for a section may be enough to make a difference. Without your support, the leaders have earned the right to let sections close without remorse or in the instance of Squirrels not opening up.

If you want your children to have an exciting childhood with the adventures offered by an active scouting program, you need to do your bit.

Andy Till
Kintore Beaver Leader and Gordon District Commissioner

Some lovely lost property! Please take a look and see if it belongs to anyone in your family. It will be available at the Welcome Back evening on 21st August for you to collect. Any items unclaimed will be hung on to until 30th September, after which we will either sell at a car boot to raise funds or give to a charity shop. Thanks the Leadership Team.

Welcome to our two new Trustees Elect, Graham Lamb (Chairperson) and Gillian Eason (Treasurer) who will be officially appointed at our 2023-24 Scouting Year Review in August.

They will help with the running of the Scout Group behind the scenes whilst our Young People are learning their .

The Group Trustee Board meets 4 times a year for 90
minutes to discuss various aspects of keeping Kintore in safe hands.

We will be reaching out soon to see if any parents from our sections would be willing to help us steer the Group during the year and attend the above four meetings. This is a chance to help put your views forward and help us steer Kintore to become even better. 😉

We’re sure you will join us in welcoming our two new faces and wish them well for the year ahead.

Thanks to you both for joining the Trustees 🙌

Cubs have had a fun last week with our annual water fights and games. It has been a busy term where we managed to fit in a camp and some time on the water amongst other things.

Big thank you to all of our adult leaders, Young Leaders - Flynn, Freya, Fraser, Fergus, Euan, Robert, Isla, Callum & Reece - and parent helpers. This has truly been a team effort.

Good luck to the Cubs leaving us, we send you off with our best wishes.

Thank you to our Young Leaders - Robert, Freya, Euan & Isla - who are moving on to help with other sections, or beginning the next chapters of their lives. We’ll miss all of you!

We hope everyone has a great Summer!
