Today our collections team are back with another amazing showcase, this time focusing on the care of metals ✨

You'll see the beautiful details on the metalwork up close, including this gorgeous set of brass-plated bellows from the 19th century. As well as hearing about the care that goes into conserving these stunning items.

The castle will be open 10.30am-3.30pm and there's no additional fee for the collections showcase. Pop along anytime between those hours.

Our most local product is back on our shelves. The beehives are on our estate and the bees are busy out enjoying the Summer sunshine gathering nectar from the Walled Garden. 🌸

Did you know we're dog friendly? 🐾

Inside our courtyard, you'll find that our Gift Shop and Tearoom both welcome dogs. So why not enjoy a picturesque walk through our woodlands and then pop by for a cuppa ☕

As well as a wide range of ice lollies and ice creams, our Shop also stocks Barke Farm doggie ice cream, so your furry friend needn't miss out ☀

If you find yourself strolling along the Alton Brae Trail on a sunny day at Castle Fraser, Garden & Estate NTS, you may come across a section of sandy path with hundreds of small holes in the ground. These holes are the nesting chambers of solitary bees. In the UK, we have 270 species of bees and nearly 250 are solitary. As their name suggests, solitary bees don't tend to live in colonies like their honeybee and bumblebee cousins. However, at suitable nesting sites, like the one at Castle Fraser, you might find aggregations of nests. Next time you are visiting, be sure to look down to appreciate the world beneath your feet! 🐝

We're happy to say the tower has now re-opened and access to the rooftop has resumed!

We're open every day in August from 10.30am with last admission at 3.30pm.

Please note, access by vehicle on Sunday will only be possible for those attending the show. The castle will be open but we anticipate that it will be busy and will be operating a restricted route for Sunday only.

Today, as part of our History Weekend, our amazing Collections Care team are cleaning a selection of our sword collection within our Great Hall. This is the perfect opportunity to get a close up look at the incredible detail and to talk to our experts. 🗡

⚔Northern Alliance, Douglas Retinue, Knights of Monymusk and Company of Saint Margaret will be encamped on our Events Field throughout the weekend with living history displays.
🏹Have a go archery!
🛡️Paint your own wooden shield inside the castle to take home (£5 per shield, castle admission applies).

No need to book, no tickets are required to get involved with the reenactors, normal admission applies for entry in to the castle and for the shield painting.
