What does being a carer mean to you ?
Better late than never, It turned June at the weekend. This marks the half way month through the year.

Around two-thirds of your body is made up of water? So, it’s important you stay well hydrated. It’s not only drinks that can help you to maintain healthy fluid levels.
Lots of fruit and vegetables are also great sources of water. In fact, around a fifth of your daily fluid intake comes from the foods you eat.
Staying hydrated can be detrimental to health, ensuring those we care for are hydrated is key to avoiding water infections which can lead to more dangerous health problems.
A big part of a carers job is not simply domesticated work, but also enhancing the lives of others.

With all this sunshine about we like to get clients out to enjoy it while its here.
Practical tasks such as cleaning, washing and cooking are all part of the work we do, but also feel it's just as important for the wellbeing of out clients to get them out and about.
A client of ours went out and enjoyed some sunshine with their carer, getting out is so vital to our mental health and wellbeing.
With the added bonus of getting some vitamin D too !
We just had to share this exquisite work that a client put into this gorgeous baby blanket.
Made for her carer we thought this deserved a special mention.

This week marks action against Dementia.
Dementia is an umbrella term for a range of progressive conditions that affect the brain.
Each type of dementia stops a person’s brain cells (neurones) working properly in specific areas, affecting their ability to remember, think and speak.
Doctors typically use the word ‘‘dementia’’ to describe common symptoms – such as memory loss, confusion, and problems with speech and understanding – that get worse over time.
What is dementia? Dementia UK is a charity that provides Admiral Nurses for families affected by dementia. Call our Dementia Helpline to find out how we can support you.
If you missed the programme, it's available on BBC iPlayer now: https://www.bbc.co.uk/.../m001z9vf/the-jennings-v-alzheimers.

Some of the easiest flowers to create interest and that insects and butterflies will love throughout the summer season.
*Nasturtiums are easy to grow, with bright orange, red or yellow flowers. Nasturtium are vigorous and can be grown as a climber. They’re great for growing amongst your veg – they’ll lure white butterflies away from cabbages and aphids away from beans. You can also eat the flowers and leaves
Sow direct outside March-June, for flowers June-September.
*Sweet Peas are perfect for picking and putting in a vase, fragrant sweet peas are easy to grow and come in a range of beautiful colours. You can grow them in pots or in the ground, training them up a trellis. Plant sweet peas near a seating area so you can smell them as you sit and relax.
Sow your sweet peas in pots or empty loo rolls March-May, and plant them out in May-June, for flowers June-October.
*Cornflowers are originally blue, but you can also find varieties with white, or pink. The flowers are a great source of food for bees and other pollinators. Deadhead regularly and you’ll have flowers all summer long, but leave them to go to seed towards autumn, and they’ll provide food for birds.
*Marigolds add a splash of sunshine to pots and borders. The flowers range from yellow to orange, and are loved by bees and other pollinating insects. They make great cut flowers and you can sprinkle the petals into salads. It also self-seeds, so you get more flowers next year. Sow direct outside April-May for flowers July-October.
*Californian Poppies add vivid colour in borders or in pots. They’re super easy to grow, flower for months, and readily self-seed, so you get more flowers next year. They’re also loved by bees and other pollinators.
Sow direct outside where you want them to grow in March-May, for flowers June-August.

That happy face says it all, John thoroughly enjoyed his trip to the beach and SeaYou cafe.
It's so important to us that we encourage clients to get out.
We find clients really do benefit from seeing whats going on around them and engaging with others, giving them a sense of society away from the isolation many face being home alone.
