gro have just laid a new lawn for friends on Clive Avenue, Ipswich. We struggled with the heat this time and not ideal turf laying conditions. If you are thinking or have laid new turf recently, always water first thing in the morning and in the evening and never in direct sunlight as this can burn the grass! Use a sprinkler and water everyday, even if it rains (we've had too much of that stuff this year) 😀
You may recall our re-turfing project a few weeks ago. The rain had held us back and had major concerns that the turf rolls would have burnt and not taken. Well...
gro have have just installed this new lap panel fence on Fircroft Road, Ipswich. Lots of old concrete posts and repair spurs had to be removed first to make way for new concrete posts, gravel boards and panels. Thanks to Lumberjacks for the materials.
Latest on the turf: Looking better each day! 😀
Finally able to lay the new lawn on Fircroft Road, Ipswich. The rain set us back twice this week and turf may have suffered as a result (some TLC being applied). We first removed the old lawn with a turf cutter, then rotavated, levelled area to reduce gradient as best we could, property is on a hill. we then added in 7.5 tons of top soil, levelled off and laid 150sqm of new(ish) turf rolls.
Our current, new lawn, project is being delayed (again) by the rain! Just hoping the turfs survive. We unstacked them to reduce heat build up that will kill off the grass. Hoping for better conditions tomorrow...
gro have had a major garden tidy-up! We don't normally do general garden work these days though we wanted to help a client who's recovering from recent ill health. The garden hadn't been touched in 18 months so we gave it a make-over!
gor have installed a new closeboard fence on Clive Avenue, Ipswich. The client removed the old fencing ready for us to install 11 new panels and concrete posts & gravel boards.
gor have been installing a new fence and gate in Anne Street, Ipswich. The old wall was about to give up so we got here just in time. Added security to rear garden.
gro have been busy and negleted socials... Now going to rectify this! gro have been busy out and about in Ipswich over the last few weeks. Here is a fence post repair job on June Avenue, Ipswich. Client was quoted (twice) for a completly new fence. We suggested repairing the rotten wooden posts as the actual fence was good. Wood in the ground - no hope!
gro have been working along Spring Road, Ipswich. This time for an old friend. The old lawn was not looking that great and patchy. We removed, added in fresh topsoil and laid new turf. We also removed the old concrete block step and replaced with new sleepers to make a more modern look to the garden. We also added featheredge boards to enclose the back from the shared lane. We love laying new lawns as it's enjoyable and instantly improves the look to any garden!
gro have added a new patio for a client in Ipswich. The old turf was removed with a digger then set out ready for the new 600x600 Riven slabs. Another lovely customer to work for!
After an rollerskating venture that ended up with a dislocated and fractured elbow - gro are back to work! We have returned to a lovely client on Deben Road, Ipswich. This time removing the front lawn to make way for new paving. The client is elderly and didn't want the burden of cutting/weeding the grass. After visiting suppliers together, the client chose textured buff concrete slabs in 3 sizes with a butt joint. Sticking to landscaping and not skating from now on - much safer 😀
gro have returned to Hazlecroft Road to complete this garden project that started back in March! With the garden cleared and levelled - we have now rotavated the entire back garden, adding in topsoil to improve the existing earth and finally laid a brand new lawn for the clients boys to play on. They will have to wait for new turf to establish though ready for summer fun.
gro have returned to a lovely client from last year's fencing job. This time to extend the lawn area to create more space for the family. We weeded the existing garden, imported 2 tons of screened topsoil and seeded. Just need the sun back!
gro have been working on Gainsborough Road, Ipswich. We created a new path area with a sweeping curve and steps to shed. Removed old shrub border ready for new plants. We levellled up a seating area and dug out a shaded area near the back of the house. All dressed with 40mm slate. Great customers to work for!
We are nearly at the end of a major garden transformation for a client and friend on Hazelcroft Road, Ipswich. The garden was a mix match of paving, raised shingle areas, planted sections, shed and greenhouse. Not an ideal area for 2 young boys to practice their football skills! Once all hardcore was removed (approx 8 tons, and endless bricks), we got busy with the digger to level the whole area. Next step, and once the weather improves, we will use a vibrating roller for a final levelling and then seed the whole area to get match ready for the warmer months ahead.
gro have returned to Wooton Drive, Ipswich. This time to extend a patio area using salvaged slabs from the previous job (parking area). Lovely people to work for and well looked after as always.
gro have installed a new shingle drive/hard stand for an existing client in Ipswich. The sandstone slabs were not able to take the weight of the car and, as a result, quite a few had broken. We recommended taking out a large section of slabs and sub-base. We then added a new edging to the front, compacted 3 tons of Type 1 and dressed with 1.5 tons of 20mm shingle. We also replaced broken slabs around the perimeter. Wonderful people to work for, bacon rolls and coffee go a long way...
Operation pergola! gro have just installed this hand cut, bespoke pergola along Old Norwich Road, Ipswich. This was close to home (my mum's home infact). My late farther built one over 30 years ago and sadly rotted away. This new pergola should outlast mankid. Materials from Lumberjacks
gro have been busy with a garden tidy-up on Faraday Road, Ipswich. Working for the YMCA Trinity Group, we dismantled the old shed, cut down tress and bushes and removed all waste.
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year from gro!
Another bit of fencing. This time in Clive Avenue, Ipswich. Old wooden posts had rotten away. We replaced with concrete posts and gravel boards. New lap panels added. Materials from Lumberjacks
We have just finished another garden clearance for the YMCA Trinity Group. This tidy-up was on Melville Road, Ipswich. We removed hedging from front garden as this was compromising the brick wall. Cut back and strimmed rear garden, removed old shed and repair to fencing.
gro have repaired some block paving recently. The blocks had been moved from neighbouring bamboo roots! This may not have stopped further roots from growing elsewhere. If you are thinking about planting bamboo - best plant pot in the ground to contain the roots (unless using Narihira for example).
gro have recently completed a new fence installation on Bromeswell Road, Ipswich. Both the front and rear old fencing was removed and new lap panels added. Trellis topped off the rear garden fencing a treat. Cold hands this week.
gro have just finished this sandstone patio in Bury. This was for an existing customer. Split level patios with path to join. Great people to work for again (looked after us very well with food and drinks on hand).
Another little project completed in Deben Road, Ipswich. This old pond had been filled with soil for many years. The elderly client wanted and easy to manage area for her plant pots. We dug out 6 tons of soil and brick. The client requested log rolls around the edge. We then added in membrane and filled with shingle for top dressing.
gro have just finished off this sandstone patio for a previous client in Epsom Drive, Ipswich. With a new fence installed earlier in the year - we were asked to remove the old patio area and path to make way for this new one. Edged with sleepers and sealed.
We have just added in a new lap panel fence and trellis to a rear garden on Bromeswell Road, Ipswich. Tough work in the earlier part of the week due to a massive sun! Materials supplied by Lumberjacks
