Crook Morris

We are a mixed morris team, performing dances from the Cotswolds, the Welsh Borders and Rapper dances from the North East of England.

Crook Morris is a mixed group of morris dancers based at Kendal, Cumbria, UK. Formed in 1981 after some years as part of Crook Folk Dance Group, the side has become a familiar sight around the UK, dancing at various festivals and events. We practise between 8 and 10pm on Mondays from October to March and we welcome new members, either dancers or musicians. No previous experience is necessary! The

☀️☀️ Kendal Calling ☀️☀️ may be kicking off but surely the 🎵 music event 🎵 of the month in the Valley will be at The Mardale Saturday 10th August during the afternoon?

Come and enjoy a relaxed drink and a burger (both will be MUCH cheaper than at KC!) with the folk music of Morris and then Billy Burrell in the background.

No tickets required - just pop along and catch up with folks!

Well after a covid & no Globe gap of 3 years Crook Morris, Westmorland Step & Garland Dancers and Legs Levens Appalachian Dancers relaunched the annual Kendal Market Place Gathering of local sides.
Oh it was so good to be back.
It was great to have a good and appreciative audience, a dry night and a good welcome at The Publican. Plenty of dances with members of Crook joining with a clog spot, another with LL and a clog dancer doubling up with LL - oh we do like each other.
It's so good to have a town centre pub again and we hope we'll be able to develop this splendid night in the years to come.

Crook had a great time on Saturday afternoon at Countryfest. This is an event we have been going to for several years and the sun always seems to shine down on us. It is great when events organise the weather to behave as well!

Wow and wow again ! That was a great afternoon for Crook Morris to celebrate St George's Day. We do this every year on the Sunday nearest to 23rd April. For the last 3 years we've expanded the event and tried 2 spots. The Kendal Bird Cage with a procession from Smokies Retro Bar to the Bird Cage. A few dances from some of our dancers, the mumming play and a few more dancers when the actors in their acting kit joined the other dancers for a right bit of fun. Then it's pack up and travel up hill to the Rifleman's Arms on Greenside for more laughter, banter and ribald audience contributions. Really appreciative crowds at both, a lot of ad libbing (all to do with traffic passing by !), the sun shone and the play was it's usual mix of forgotten lines, ham acting and a lot of smiling faces. Great afternoon and a lovely warm welcome from Melissa and Paul in the pub. Roll on Upton Upon Severn FF.
