A fantastic evening out in Whitby. A glorious fish pie, prawn salad and scampi n chips at the Magpie. Then a great wander down the breakwater.

Having revisited the housekeeping situation of Hillrise, we are delighted that Esk Valley Cleaning Company are looking after Hillrise, our holiday cottage in Glaisdale, where they have already made their mark.

They’ve already made an amazing difference to our wonderful property, which sleeps 7 people in 4 bedrooms (2 doubles, a twin and a single) and is situated in idyllic Glaisdale. It’s a 15 minute drive from Whitby and many great coastal beaches and the North Yorkshire Moors are also within easy access.

A great day out at Saltburn. A lovely walk along an extensive sandy beach and a delightful stroll through Saltburn Valley Gardens (a great miniature railway located here)

A great walk along the rail trail between Grosmont and Goathland in rather drizzly and windy weather.

Another gentle, sunny day out at Beck Hole, Goathland and the wider Goathland area. Great for walking, coff shops and watching the trains on the North York Moors Railway

A great walk doing part of the Esk Valley walk. We found a great pub and farm shop at Egton Bridge, and some fantastic footpaths and views along the way

A great afternoon stroll to Whitby Abbey with lunch at the YHA and a walk to the end of the Southern breakwater.
