π Last Friday, Goodwins Hall hosted another successful Friendship CafΓ©! It was heartwarming to see so many visitors come together to enjoy the fun of bingo and connect with one another. Weβre truly overwhelmed by the fantastic turnout!

What a fantastic summer evening of opera and show songs πΆπ΅at Goodwins Hall last night with prosecco πΎand canapΓ©s enjoyed in the beautiful gardens at our Kings Lynn home.

Yesterday our residents added extra toppings to pizzas, in cookery club ready for their evening around the Campfire. The residents soaked up the camp atmosphere, singing along to some old classics. whilst enjoying the pizzas made earlier in the day, and toasted marshmallows followed by a cup of hot Chocolate. ππ₯

The residents at Goodwins Hall enjoyed a fun activity of making smoothies. They prepared and blended various fruits and ingredients before indulging in a taste test, sampling all three smoothies and selecting their favorite. ππ₯ππ₯€

What an incredible day! We had the honor of participating in the King's Lynn & West Norfolk Pride and were overwhelmed by the number of people who came to visit our stall. The face gems, Athena tattoos, and glitter were a huge hit - thank you to everyone who stopped by to check them out. A special thank you to Cal and Michelle for their help with the stall. It was heartwarming to see our residents come out to support us. Pride events like this remind us of the love and acceptance that exists in our community. ππ

They soaked up the beautiful seaside atmosphere, took leisurely walks along the beach, and even dared to have a thrilling go at the ghost train ride! π»π

As part of Afternoon Tea Week Goodwins Hall held their Tea Party last Sunday afternoon. It was a chance for friends and family to catch up with loved ones over delicious finger sandwiches and home made cakes and a cup of tea or coffee. A huge thanks to those that made the afternoon a success. πβπ°

Yesterday at the Kings Lynn Horticultural society, Goodwins Hall came away with three trophies awarded for our exhibits grown by our resident's in Gardening Club. #

We've been helping our colleagues in the care sector, and others working in the communities around our family of care homes, keep cool πwith some free ice cream π¦π¨as the temperatures have been soaring. π
You might have seen our teams armed with their cool boxes in Peterborough, Ipswich and Kings Lynn and even spotted the Athena ice cream bicycle π²in Cambridge. Thanks to our fantastic Customer Relations Managers Mari, Nadine and Amber πas well as those from our homes who helped them spread some good wishes this summer from our family to yours.ππ
π«π· Oh La La! What a wonderful day our residents have had immersing themselves in all things French! π₯π«π·
We started off the day with a lively French trivia quiz, testing our knowledge of Paris and picking up some new phrases along the way.
Then came the highlight of the day - a scrumptious feast of 'Coq au Vin,' expertly prepared by our talented Head Chef. The dish was a hit with everyone, and we savored every flavorful bite.
But the excitement didn't stop there! We embarked on a virtual journey to Paris through an Armchair Travel experience, using Virtual Reality to visit iconic landmarks like The Louvre, Eiffel Tower, Notre Dame, ChΓ’teau de Versailles, and more. It truly felt like we were strolling the streets of Paris!
Laughter filled the air as we explored, learned, and enjoyed the day together. It was a memorable experience that left us all looking forward to the next themed day. πβοΈ

It's Afternoon Tea Week π«π΅and across Athena Care Homes we're celebrating the great British tradition of Afternoon Tea - the perfect excuse to catch up with loved ones over a cup of tea and some home-baked delicacies.π°π§
This year Afternoon Tea Week takes place from 7th β 13th August and we're looking forward to welcoming friends and families into our homes to mark the occasion. Today in Activities we sowed some flowers seeds ready for the winter baskets. Then we began our new Old for new project in the afternoon. ππ±πͺ
Today we wish one of our lovely residents a Happy 100th Birthday! She spent the afternoon enjoying a birthday lunch complete with balloons, cards (including a very special one from King Charles & Queen Camilla!) and a homemade cake. A cheerful crowd of our residents and staff came together to sing 'Happy Birthday,' it was a pleasure to see her face light up with joy on her special day.πππ
We are thrilled to share that our cycling journey to France in support of Norfolk Hospice Tapping House is off to an incredible start! π«π·
Our dedicated team, along with the support of our amazing staff, residents, relatives, and visitors, have already covered an impressive 84 miles towards our goal. But wait, there's more! We still have 7 days to go and 316 miles ahead of us! πͺ
The outpouring of support, encouragement, and donations from our community has been absolutely heartwarming. We are truly grateful for each and every one of you who has hopped on the bike with us and contributed towards this fantastic cause. π

Our residents had an amazing time on Friday afternoon with entertainment provided by John Frances. We sang along to all the classic hits and even enjoyed a dance! At Goodwins, we have a deep love for music, and itβs always heart-warming to see residents and their relatives singing together and sharing in the fun! πΆπ
The Athena Olympics is underway this week to coincide with the games in Paris and there's lots of fun for our residents and teams as well as a bit of friendly πcompetition between our homes and our support office. ππ

Residents and team members at Goodwins Hall, in Kingβs Lynn, are gearing up for a remarkable journey to mark the Paris Olympics. ππ
The ambitious plan involves collectively cycling π²almost 400 miles on an exercise bike, symbolising the distance from the care home π‘to Paris, all while raising funds for their local hospice, The Norfolk Hospice Tapping House House.
The event is scheduled to coincide with the Paris Olympics, running from August 1 to 11. During this period, Goodwins Hall will be buzzing with Olympic spirit through a variety of themed activities, including virtual armchair travel to France, sampling French cuisine, π·π₯and participating in the Athena Care Homes Olympics. ππ 'sLynn

π What a perfect day for lunch at Goodwins Hall! π½οΈ Today, our residents enjoyed delicious fish and chips in the sunshine out in our lovely garden. The atmosphere was simply wonderful, with laughter and great conversations filling the air.
