Symptoms include shortness of breath, wheezing, chest tightness, chronic cough, and frequent respiratory infections. Quitting smoking, practising breathing techniques, taking medications, getting vaccinated, and using oxygen therapy can all help manage COPD.

As an occupational health company, Latus Health provides services that can make a real difference for those at risk of or living with COPD. We offer screening and early detection through spirometry testing, smoking cessation programmes and resources, and monitoring of lung function and disease progression. Managing COPD requires an integrated approach.

At Latus Health, our occupational health experts partner with employees and employers to optimise lung health. We're committed to providing the information, resources and quality care needed to reduce COPD risk factors, detect issues early, and control symptoms. Together, we can breathe easier. (edited)

What Is Health Screening? 05/01/2023

Protecting your employees and your business with regular workplace screening: Workplace screening is an important tool for maintaining the health and safety of employees and the overall business.

By regularly screening employees for potential health risks or hazards, businesses can take proactive steps to prevent illness and injury, as well as identify and address any potential issues before they become major problems.

This not only helps to protect workers, it can also improve morale, productivity, and retention, and ultimately benefit the business as a whole.

What Is Health Screening? Screening is a way of finding out if people have a higher chance of having a health problem, so that early treatment can be offered or information given to h...

Well-being at work is a hot topic that continues to gain attention as the importance of mental health and overall well-being becomes increasingly recognised. In 2023, we can expect to see several trends in the area of well-being at work.

But what will some of the top trends be?

We can expect to see more companies offering resources and support for employees to manage their mental health, such as access to counselling services, stress management training, and mindfulness practices.

Focus on work-life balance. Companies are beginning to recognise the importance of this. They are implementing policies and practices that support work-life balance, such as flexible scheduling, the option to work from home, and time off for personal and family commitments.

Focus on prevention through health surveillance. By conducting health surveillance, companies can ensure that their employees are protected from potential health hazards and promote a safe and healthy work environment.

Supporting musculoskeletal problems – with 72,000 individuals recently reporting a musculoskeletal (MSK) disorder - directly caused or exacerbated by the pandemic, according to statistics from the Health and Safety Executive - it is a cause for concern.

The cost of living crisis is a major factor that is driving the trend towards financial well-being in the workplace. With the rising costs of housing, healthcare, education, and other necessities, many people are struggling to make ends meet and are feeling financially stressed. Thus leaving the expectation of financial well-being becoming a major workplace topic in 2023.

Is your business looking after employee health and starting the new year off right?

There are many benefits for employers when it comes to looking after the health of their employees.

First, a healthy workforce is more productive. Employees who are in good physical and mental health are able to work at their full potential, leading to increased productivity and efficiency. This can have a positive impact on the bottom line of the company.

Second, investing in employee health can reduce the number of sick days taken. If employees have access to resources such as gym memberships, healthy food options, and stress management techniques, they may be less likely to take time off due to illness or injury. This can help to reduce absenteeism and maintain a stable workforce.

Finally, taking care of employee health can improve retention rates. Employees who feel supported and valued by their employer are more likely to stay with the company, leading to reduced training and recruitment costs.
A healthy and happy workforce can also lead to a positive company culture, attracting top talent to the organisation.

Overall, investing in employee health can have long-term benefits for employees and employers.

Here's to a healthy and successful new year at work!
