Rockcity Skatepark updated their business hours.

CLOSED FOR MAINTENANCE
The Rockcity Skatepark will be closed for maintenance as of Monday 11th July 2022. The Skatepark will remain closed throughout the rest of the Summer.
Sessions will still run on Sunday 10th. There will be no sessions on Monday 11th.
The Rockcity Skate Shop will still be on as usual.

JUBILEE WEEKEND OPENING TIMES
Thursday 2nd | 09:15 - 19:00
Friday 3rd | 09:15 - 19:00
Saturday 4th | 09:15 - 19:30
Sunday 5th | 09:15 - 19:30

That's Thursday & Friday closing at 7pm.
Saturday & Sunday open as usual until 7:30pm

EASTER HOLIDAY OPENING TIMES
There are a few changes to our opening times over the Easter holidays 2022.

April 15th Good Friday | 09:30 - 19:00
April 17th Easter Sunday | 09:30 - 19:00
April 18th Easter Monday | 09:30 - 19:00

So that's a 7pm close on these dates.

We are operating our normal opening times for the rest of the holiday.

The skatepark will be closed for 2 weeks while we kindly donate the space to be used by a private company to carry out their charity work.

Sessions will be running as normal today and tomorrow morning. The 2 weeks closure will start tomorrow at 1.30pm.

PEDAL TO THE METAL

Massive congrats to Declan Brooks] on bringing home a bronze medal in the world's first ever BMX PARK Olympic Games competition.

This will mean so much for the development of the scene in the UK over the next few years, hopefully securing the survival and expansion of the nations skateparks.

With an awesome SKATEBOARDING STREET event last week and SKATEBOARDING PARK continuing the showcase this week. Oh, there's a bunch of SPORT CLIMBING on from tomorrow morning for anyone interested.

When we first let Scott, and Jack have a flat bank against a wall in the back of the climbing centre we never thought that things would ever get to the level it has today. When we then built Rockcity skatepark 26 years ago, we never in our wildest dreams thought we would be watching Skateboarding or BMX Park on TV, let alone at The Olympic Games. Now, after a one year delay the Tokyo 2020 Games has started and Climb, Skate and BMX finally come home.

Knowing that we have played a small part in the growth and development and popularity of each of these sports and also knowing that we have given many people the chance to live a different life through these sports.

Hull has always made some of the best skaters and riders in the country for decades and Rockcity has been there most of the time, holding a roof over the scene every winter. More recently working to make Hull a Skateboard friendly city, there have been many achievements along the way that we are proud of.

The fact that the mighty Olympic Games needed Climb, Skate and BMX adding to regain the interest of a younger audience says more about how good the sports we choose are than how much we need to be Olympians.

FREEDOM

With Boris announcing a complete turn around to Freedom Day on Monday and making us now responsible for how 'free' we all get to be instead, we have decided to let everyone know early what measures will still be in place from 19th July 2021 at Rockcity.

We aren't afraid of COVID now. But as our staff team is such a young and healthy bunch they were the last to be offered vaccines so we are insisting that we all follow our rules that we implemented at the start of the pandemic. We are asking everyone to follow the rules until the end of August/start of September when all adults in the UK will have been able to have had both parts of the vaccine. At this point when its safe for everyone, including young adults, to be in close contact then we will get rid of this last piece of restriction.

We require all visitors to wear a face mask in reception/shop/toilets and corridors. For the rest of the time we no longer ask you to wear a mask in the skatepark.

Please don't be afraid to talk to others, respecting their personal space, make skating and BMX fun and more sociable.

By continuing with these measures in place we protect our staff team from Track and Trace notifications to isolate and the need to close the centre due to staff shortages

JULY 18th - End of COVID-19 restrictions.

We welcome the end to all COVID-19 restrictions and look forward to having you all back, with a smile.

We appreciate that for some people after 18 months of being made to be scared of COVID-19 may take some adjusting.  So, we are maintaining the hygiene standards we put in place, the frequent touch points and hand sanitizer stations will all be staying as part of a fresh and smarter way for people to cut down on the spread of all germs in the future.  By now we should all be a little less in people's personal bubbles, especially whilst queuing, so we expect that these good habits will stick.

So, for people concerned about the new lack of rules and social distancing then please feel free to continue to follow your own instinct and make your own choices, like wearing a mask in crowded areas, if this feels the right thing to do.

The main thing is that we no longer have to do this, we can if we choose, but we no longer legally are forced to do so.  This means we will be bringing back all of our activities and sessions over the next few weeks as classes and lessons return to normal.  We want to thank you all for your commitment to making a bad situation work and in supporting us when we had to make a visit to Rockcity more of a challenge, but now we can move towards a more sociable future.

We hope we can contribute again to the full physical and health and mental wellbeing of our community and welcome newcomers to our exciting sports club.

Indeed, with the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games in a month's time we are ready to introduce people to the fun workouts that Climbing, Skate and BMX bring.
