Witch-ing you a Happy Halloween π
Yesterday we celebrated with a Halloween afternoon party. We started off with a Halloween costume, voted by our lovely residents. After we they enjoyed a spooky game of bingo with sweet treat prizes and music that brought the Halloween spirit π΅π.
Thank you to our Chef, Arthur for catering some delicious treats and snacks and thank you to our residents who have crafted a lot of our decorations in their arts and crafts activities to help set the scene of Halloween . π«
Autumn Arts and Crafts π¨
This week we have focused our art and craft activities on Autumn.
Exploring the different colours that autumn brings with it, from leaf arranging to preparing our hand made Halloween decorations.
Arts and crafts have many benefits to it such as cognitive stimulation, improving concentration and enhanced motor skills. Another benefit is having a sense of accomplishment and purpose.

A visit to Squires Garden Centre π³
Last week some of the residents from Brook House Nursing Home visited Squires Garden Centre for a delightful morning out.
They enjoyed browsing the displays and were amazed by all the different Christmas decorations they saw!
From sparkling fair lights to beautifully crafted nut crackers and towering Christmas trees.
After we stopped off in the cafe to enjoy a slice of raspberry cake and a cup of tea. β.
π Brook House Summer Party π
This month the residents of Brook House celebrated the Hawaiian themed Summer Party!
We started our afternoon with some delicious food provided by our Head Chef which was just delightful. After Joan kindly announced our lucky raffle winners!
The residents enjoyed their ice pops with each other as they chatted in the cool summer breeze π

Last week some of our residents had a lovely morning stroll around Richmond Park π³...
We was lucky enough to spot the deer in Richmond Park! It was an amazing experience to see them through the bus window in their natural habitat.
We admired the scenic views as we enjoyed a cup of tea and slice of cake.

β¨π΅ Musical Instrument Afternoonπ΅β¨
Our residents really enjoyed our musical instrument afternoon, we listened to ABBA, Frank Sinatra and some Michael Jackson. They danced with the music and incorporated the music instruments.
A sense of uplift and joyful smiles as we sang along together!
β¨A fun filled trip to Chesington Garden Centre β¨
As the month of pride comes to an end, Brook House enjoyed celebrating the love, individuality and inclusion of others for the month of Pride. π
Today we visited the Concord museum, Brooklands ππ©οΈ
We took great delight in the historic cars and aircraft's on display which invoked a trip down memory lane which we thoroughly enjoyed reminiscing on.

This morning's activity... Flower and Vase arranging πΉπ·πΉ
There are many benefits to flower arranging, for example it promotes social interaction amongst the residents and they enjoy reminiscing about receiving their favourite flowers or even planting their own! It also promotes a sense of accomplishment, cognitive and sensory stimulation.
Afterwards we enjoyed a cup of tea and biscuits as we admired everyone's creativity to put together a blooming bunch of flowers! π·
Brook House celebrated the 80th anniversary of D-Day yesterday. We started our morning with some cupcake decorating which the residents enjoyed with a cup of tea and reminiscing about how they would celebrate D - Day in the past. We also enjoyed an afternoon tea party whilst listening to the D - day darlings, arms were swaying and smiles were big as we listened and danced on β¨π

At Brook house we aim to inspire our residents with moments of joy and happiness. This afternoon we took to our new Namaste room where they enjoyed their namaste hand massage.
Namaste hand massages is an inclusive activity that has become very popular with our residents, itβs an activity that provides one with emotional support and connecting, which is given through the use of hand massages.
Some benefits of namaste hand massage include, sensory stimulation, stress reduction, improved circulation and more.

We had a lovely creative activity with some of our residents, Flower and Vase arranging! πΉ
There are multiple benefits of flower arranging such as social interaction, sense of accomplishment, cognitive stimulation and more.
Flower arranging also gave us a chance to reminisce of the times our residents planted and grew their own flowers in the gardens!
After putting their flowering skills to use the residents enjoyed putting their vases in their rooms which added a lovely pop of colour and brought a sense of spring with it!
In the tranquil morning hours, two kindred spirits find sanctuary in the pages of books and the comforting embrace of steaming cups of tea.
The gentle rustle of pages intertwines with the delicate clink of teacups, creating a symphony of quiet joy.
