Wow! It's 11 years ago today I started
"Help I've got a computer" - I'm still helping people get more out of their devices and relieving some stress 😀

A little reminder not to click on links in emails!

Sadly a friend did and someone hacked into her emails.
I can be hard to tell the difference between legitimate and not. Go through the official website and check first.

Can't believe I've been helping people 'get their head round' how to use technology for 10 years now!
Doesn't seem that long!🙂

Great to have a phonecall the other week from someone wanting to refresh their knowledge about spreadsheets!

There are so many things you can use them for, for personal as well as business use!

Received this via Police Neighbourhood scheme and is worth reading - it might save you from fraud!

Dear Subscriber,
Criminals are targeting WhatsApp users by posing as a friend and asking for a security code. Action Fraud has received over 60 reports relating to this scam.
The scam begins when a criminal gets access to another WhatsApp account which has you listed as a contact.

The criminal, posing as your friend or someone that’s a member of a WhatsApp group you’re in, will then send you seemingly normal messages to try and start a conversation with you. However, around the same time you will receive a text message from WhatsApp with a six-digit code. This is because the criminal has been trying to login to WhatsApp using your mobile number. The criminal will claim that they sent you their code by accident and ask you to help them by sending it to them. Once the criminal has this code, they can login to your WhatsApp account and lock you out.

The criminal will then use the same tactic with your WhatsApp contacts in an effort to steal more accounts and use them to perpetrate fraud.

What you need to do:
Set up two-step verification to give an extra layer of protection to your account: Tap Settings > Account >Two-step verification > Enable.


THINK. CALL. If a family member or friend makes an unusual request on WhatsApp, always call the person to confirm their identity.


Never share your account’s activation code (that’s the 6 digit code you receive via SMS)


You can report spam messages or block a sender within WhatsApp. Press and hold on the message bubble, select ‘Report’ and then follow the instructions.


If you have been a victim of fraud or cyber crime, report it to Action Fraud or 0300 123 2040.

It was lovely to go and see a new customer yesterday who wanted to find a way to "open thngs" on her laptop.

Some family members had tried to help but had been too fast and she didn't know what they had done.

When I left she said that asking me to help was one of the best decisions she'd made.

I'm glad she asked for help too, there's no point struggling if you don't have to! 🙂

Had a busy start to the year helping someone digitise and upload documents to help with a visa application 🙂

Not things you do everyday ~with the notes and training shouldn't be as bad next time! 💻🖨🌎

Did a true and false quiz with some people today-
~It is only older people who struggle with IT?
~ Is it only older people that Help I've got a computer can help?

Have helped business people and other professionals recently 🙂

It is never a good idea to have a drink next to a computer as one of my customers has sadly found out to her cost! 😔

Coffee and computers don't mix, any more than any other drink that is accidentally spilt on a laptop keyboard.

The only thing to do is get a new one! That's easier said than done without any other device to order one from (as everything is now click and collect and the only way to see the different computers available means she needed her laptop!)

Thankfully I was able to help her source another one and will help her set it up. In the meantime she has been able to get prints of what she needs to do until she can collect the machine.

In this case it wasn't so much 'Help I've got a computer' as 'Help I need a computer' thankfully she will have one again soon 🙂
