Project Cubit - Designing A Modular Desk — Form Lab The aim of Project Cubit is to develop a modular desk system, enabling users to quickly adapt their workspace between different tasks or different users. By creating a modular furniture system, we aim to create a eco system of accessories and replacement parts to help extend the products lifecycle.
Integrating power into the design of Project Cubit was a key consideration from the very beginning. We knew we wanted to create a product which could interact with the electrical items people use at their desks everyday. Here’s one concept we came up with, of integrating the power supply into the leg supports. This would allow us to keep the desktop looking thin and sleek, while still being able to include a high power power supply for providing power to range of common desk items
At Form Lab, we believe that a design sprint is a great way to get a new project idea off the ground. It enables a small group of designers and specialists to come together to rapidly research, investigate, conceptualise, develop and test a range of ideas quickly.
