ProTip: It’s good practice to keep some consistency in wall thickness for vacuum casted parts. We at HLH recommend a minimum wall thickness of 1mm.

However, vacuum casting allows a good amount of design freedom, so it is possible to include both thin and thick wall sections in the same part without too much impact on the final part.

ProTip: When designing sheet metal parts, there's some factors to consider in bending the parts. At a minimum, the smallest bend radius should be at least the same as sheet thickness of the part, to avoid fractures or distortions in the part.

Also, keeping the bend radius consistent and keeping the bends (in the same plane) in the same direction helps to save time and money by cutting out the need for part reorientation during fabrication.

ProTip: Injection moulded parts with vertical walls (and no draft angle) are prone to drag marks. Ensure you're including minimum draft angle of 2° in your design to avoid these errors.

A good rule to go by is to increase the draft angle by one degree for every 25mm. For example, add a draft angle of 3 degrees to a feature that is 75mm tall - this will prevent imperfections in your moulded parts.
