Teaching James the Fundamentals…..Creating the right SHAPE 🖌️
📚
Week 4
Fundamentals
Creating Artwork on a moving object is not ideal.
Gain control in a polite manner. Tilt your clients head so you can get the light on the fade. Try avoid looking down at your trims…..& maybe just pump the chair up 🤔
📚
I used to really struggle with the Dense hair behind the ear. Now I’ve learnt to go higher in these areas to have a smooth , balanced fade around the head 📚
You have to look at your TRIMS at different angles to get the best finish 🖌️
You can’t apply 2D logic to a 3D shape 📐
Part 2 of the scissor over Comb chat with Kenz 🫡
You can throw your Guards around like a mad scientist ⚗️or you could just try this 🖌️
📚
I love this guy 😂
If you’re struggling to fade out that bottom zero line out, take all the other guards as high as you can. 📚
,
Take your time with your weight line. Every line you draw will follow this shape 📚
When you take a 📸 of your trim, this is what the eye is drawn towards 🗝️
Ensuring you plan your haircut before you start is very important! 📚
Usually the position of the occipital bone is a clear indication of where you should be placing your fades.
As a barber when you cut to the shape of your clients head shape, the haircut grows back way better. Your clients will greatly appreciate the effort you went to, to create something that best suits them 🫡
Practicing the basics over and over 📚
Combing through the hair after you have cut it to make sure it it’s even is key !!
When your first start to learn barbering this technique shows your clients your confident and reassures them 🫡
Taking your thumb out of the thumb hole will reduce wear and tear on the wrists and shoulders. Key if your wanting a long career as a Barber/Stylist 🫡
Throwing a 1.5 Guard open and closed under the weight line will ensure you have a Flat smooth canvas for your fade ✍🏽
Showing Students how to cut around a 👑 leaving appropriate weight & length in the right area’s
Getting that overlap of the fingers is key to not cutting yourself!! 📚
Stop with the laziness and drill this at home !! 📚
This is the same way surgeons hold their scissors so they can have other equipment safely in their hands 🫡
🥳Congratulations Dale🎉

Very proud to work with such amazing Artists . I’ve learnt so much from all the barbers at JAX past & present.
When your a team that shares, you all elevate 🙏🏽
You have to consider how your scissors are set up, not just your clippers. 1 or 2 turns with the key that’s in your scissor case should do the job 🫡
Hot evening Wednesday 🥵
Micheal growing in confidence every week 🫡🙏🏽
Practice makes perfect. The more trims you do, the better your trims get. Simple🫡

Helping young Kenz simplify Scissor over comb 🫡
Less is more most of the time with this technique. I’ve been guilty of ruining my Artwork with too much scissor over comb in the past.
Create the shape, blend then walk away 🚶
