I asked Leigh for some photos of the engine he is swapping over for Facebook, and this is what I got back...It's like working with children sometimes! 🤣

A customer drove their vehicle to us the other day with an oil leak. As you can see, it was quite a mess! Luckily, it doesn't seem to have caused any lasting damage to the engine, even though we had to add over 3 litres before moving it.

Fingers crossed, it will be ok! Just the yard to clean now...

These photos are from a Velar with a snapped timing chain. The chain had snapped, the rocker's arms had broken, and the VVT unit had shattered.

A full rebuild was in order, and in the end, the engine ran! Sometimes, the engine can still be damaged after all this work, but this one was lucky.

It was a sea of red at our Wetherby branch last week! 🚗

One of our customers has a new Range Rover and this old Classic, which just needed a quick adjustment to the fan belts and a brake clean.

These are what got me into mechanics: a good one V8 and the smell of petrol, not DPFs and AdBlue faults!!

Check out our latest timing chain replacement at our Wetherby branch! This job was a real challenge— the oil was in such poor condition that we had to do a thorough clean-out to get rid of the impurities before rebuilding the engine.

After the work was done, we took the vehicle for a road test to ensure everything was running smoothly. We advised the customer to come back in 1000 miles for another oil change and a thorough checkover to ensure their vehicle stays in top shape.

One of our personal bugbears is oil leaks like these!

When there's oil everywhere, it's often hard to find exactly where it's coming from, so it has to be cleaned, road-tested, and rechecked to find the root cause, which can be very time-consuming!

Regularly checking your oil level can prevent leaks from getting this bad and make identifying the cause far easier.

Sometimes, you can plan your workshop jobs perfectly, but then the new radiator turns up damaged, and you've got to rearrange the day's work around it!

We service a lot of Discovery 3s, 4s, and original Range Rover Sports and often find worn handbrake cable hooks.

These hooks prevent the cables from touching the wheel, but they wear out over time.

Replacing them is far cheaper and more convenient than letting the cables catch on the wheel, wear away, and cause the Electronic Park Brake Module to fail.

Corroded Rear Active Drive Module Replacement on a 19-Plate Evoque 🧑‍🔧

We recently worked on a 19-plate Range Rover Evoque with a corroded rear active drive module. This unit sits above the rear diff and is vulnerable to the elements.

The faults prevented the active drive coupling motor from passing the range test on initial startup, triggering a dashboard fault and a strange noise.

Our solution? A brand-new genuine unit, fitted and coded with JLR software. Now, everything is back up and running smoothly! 👌
