Change of Staff!

This week we say goodbye to Gareth, who's been our Office Manager for almost 10 years! His successor will be our current administrator, Laura, who steps up to the role from the start of October. We wish them both the very best!

This week we are delighted to start a new woodwind group for some of our pupils. Ensemble playing is a great way of developing your musicanship and making new friends! If you're interested in playing with other musicians, please let us know and we'll try to arrange that for you.

The piano has barely been used for the last 15 years. The piano is approximately 30 years old and in very good condition.

Roundhay Music Principal Piano Accompanist

Applications are invited for an experienced Principal Piano Accompanist to join a vibrant and long established team of committed professional players and teachers working in the Leeds area.

Regular Engagements & Requirements:

• A termly music concert day (usually the 2nd Sunday after half-term).
• Rehearsals to be held in term time at our studios as required, preferably Tuesdays 4-8pm (negotiable).
• The volume of work is likely to increase as each term progresses, depending on the number of exam candidates and concert participants.
• Applicants should be able to provide evidence of previous accompaniment engagements supported by references.
• Your own transportation.
• Register with HMRC to declare all earnings as self-employed.
• Enhanced DBS disclosure.

Essential Skills:

• Experience of and availability to accompany pupil exams in the future.
• Experience of and ability to prepare students for all parts of music exams in aural training, technique etc.
• A friendly and personable disposition.
• Ability to communicate your skills to all standards and age groups.
• Comfortable engaging with pupils and parents, to meet and greet them at the studio.
• Ability to arrange future rehearsals directly with pupils where necessary and coordinate this with studio availability.
• Keep accurate records of accompaniment work each term in order to submit accurate invoice requests for your time in arrears.
• A performance diploma in piano.
• Ability to sight-read a variety of styles to Grade 8 standard and above.

Desirable Skills:

• An undergraduate music degree.
• Piano tuition may also be available if desired in daytime school education and to 1:1 students outside school hours but the accompanying work is a priority.
