The Yorkshire Home Squad is back up and running. Come join us next Thursday at The Lawnswood Arms at meet your local trades face to face.

The Yorkshire Home Squad is an invite only trade directory to ensure that there are no cowboys or chancers and only qualified and experienced trades people.

I am honoured to say we have been invited to join The Yorkshire Home Squad. This is a new trade directory that has been created to make sure customers can find proper trades who know what they are doing. This is unlike checkatrade, rated people, mybuilder, etc as anyone can join these sites for a fee or by buying leads for projects.

The Yorkshire Home Squad is only available to trades people to join by being invited by other trades already part of the team to make sure that there are only the best of the best and absolutely no chancers and cowboys.

We are also offering drop in sessions for people pop in and have a chat with the professionals themselves to discuss potential projects, products used or just come and get some advice from the people who know what they are talking about.

The first drop in session is on June the 15th at the Lawnswood Arms from 7.30pm where you will be able to meet the trade professionals face to face.

So here is an open plan kitchen/dining room we did YEARS ago. There isn't much we didn't do one this project. Wall removed, the customer didn't want to have a bulkhead for the RSJ so we took the props up through the first floor to properly support the building while we installed the steeling into the ceiling of the kitchen to be able to create a seamless fininsh between the two rooms. The kitchen itself was designed and supplied by Arlington Interiors

Here is a slightly different open plan kitchen/dining room to the ones we normally do. On this project the customer asked us to widen the existing opening into an already built extension, remove most of the rear wall to install bifold doors and rebuild the roof to be able to accomodate a rather large(by rather large I mean one of the biggest you can buy) velux windows. This kitchen was completely designed by the customer as a lockdown project and I think the photos prove they got it right, down to a tee.

Time for something a little different from us, a restaurant renovation.

The project was designed by Arlington Interiors and we were asked if we would be able to take on the project for them, and what a project it turned out to be. Something a little different from the open plan kitchen dining rooms that we specialize in but an opportunity not to be missed.

I can safely say that Mango Wetherby the Indian vegetarian restaurant has taken a completely new lease of life. As straight forward as a project should be this was definitely not one.... mostly due to the fact that nothing in this building is square.

There was one massive perk to this project though and that was the food. We did get chance to sample a fair section of the menu and I can honestly say even if you are not a vegetarian you need to visit this place and try the food, it's amazing.

A bathroom renovation we completed for a customer.

We relocated the basin and the toilet, removed the bath and installed a fully tiled walk-in shower. We also installed new spotlights, an illuminated mirror, fitted an extractor fan and installed a designer towel radiator.

Here we have an open plan kitchen dining room project we completed last year. We removed the dividing wall between the two rooms and also had to remove the existing supports between the house and an existing extension and replace with full length RSJ's. We found some very dodgy work supporting both the external and internal walls of the house where it joined into the extension. The internal wall had started to collapse due to this work but luckily it had fallen into the external wall which stopped the damage from potentially becoming life threatening.

We also blocked up an old coal store on the side of the house and opened a doorway through the hallway to install a downstairs W/C. Replaced all the doors in the house as well as installing new banisters and spindles.

We also had the whole kitchen/dining area, downstairs W/C, hall, stairs and landing plastered by Advanced Plastering - West Yorkshire

All electrical work was completed by Rob Tiffany

Boiler was relocated by A64 Plumbing

On this project we got the opportunity to work with Zenith worktops for the first time. They are a 12mm solid laminate top. Once properly finished the results speak for themselves.

With the current national crisis I have decided to stop operating. It wasn't an easy decision to make but I believe it is the socially responsible thing to do. To not only protect my own family but to protect customers and their families.

Don't worry though we aren't going anywhere. As soon as the coronavirus crisis is over we will be back up and running at full speed. We already have a few jobs booked in waiting for us to return to work. If you are thinking of having work done please like and follow our page to keep up to date with when we are operating again.

Your house is quite possibly the biggest investment you will ever make in your life, so when doing any alterations or extensions the cheapest quote may not always be a good investment.

On a project we are currently working on we have come across the worst wall supporting we have ever seen. The internal wall has actually collapsed and the only thing that has stopped it from completely collapsing is the fact that it fell into the external wall. If the walls on this extension had been supported the other way round God only knows what might of happened.

Not only had the extension breakthrough been done using timber rather the RSJ's, they had less than a 2" bearing on the walls causing the brickwork to fail. Then to top it all off, 2 courses of bricks had been removed and propped with some more timber causing the next few course of brick fail.

The pictures really don't do justice to the danger that the improper building work here could of caused.

A recent kitchen dining room breakthrough we have completed. This project required some serious propping to get the steel right up into the ceiling so that we could create a flush ceiling in the new kitchen/dining room. The additional work has really paid off on this project and you wouldn't even know it was originally two separate rooms. It wasn't the easiest of projects with the heaviest steel we've had to date and 36 narrow winding stairs to negotiate.
