What is the YOT? 🤔

Jaimisha is here to tell us about the Youth Offending Team/Service! A team of our SLTs and CALs work with the YOT’s social workers, case managers, and probation workers with children involved in the criminal justice system - predominantly aged 10-18 - that present with SLCN.

“[We] support children in their process in the criminal justice system. So attending police interviews, going to court hearings - being that support system from a communication point of view to make sure that they fully understand what their next steps are.”

Strategies to support children’s emotional regulation! 😁

Arooj, one of our SLTs, is here to recount a fulfilling therapy session with a child focusing on their emotional regulation. 🟢

Through involving painting as an activity, the child was feeling calm and regulated, which led to them to share moments when they had felt frustrated and in the ‘red-zone’ - a massive achievement as this child typically struggled to manage and understand overwhelming emotions!
