Liz's tricky lips! 🤩

Liz suffers from cold sores and dry lips, so her lips are always a bit fussier when I work on them as they want to fight against me. The last pic is her lips about 3 years down the line before we refreshed them. They are faded but less pale than they were when she originally came to see me 😙

Unfortunately, over time, dry skin and recurring cold sores will mean the tattoo fades quicker BUT... Look at it like this....you can try a new colour every few years 🤭

The brief... natural, not noticeable, 'my brows but better ✨ Just hairstrokes in preparation for a wedding!

First session I did microblading however, at the top up I opted for machine strokes as there were a few skin coloured moles in the brow that I wanted to get closer to and blend as much as possible 💕

Brows after the top up session 💜

It's hard to see here but my client had super faded old work (not done by me) and the brow hair was a bit coarser at the start of the brow. When the hair is thicker / denser in one area, it can take both sessions to make that area more blended as placing hairstrokes too close together at the first session can lead to everything blending together.

The second session is important as it allows us to see how your skin heals and let's us build up the brows for a more natural and textured result 🤗

Healing stages for softer combination brows 🫶🏻

My lovely client was REALLY nervous when she came for her first appointment, but because she had stated she has oilier skin, we had opted for a combination brow.

To give her a really subtle result, I didn't saturate the brows as much as I usually would, knowing that the brows would heal light and powdery, enabling my customer to get used to her new brows without getting too overwhelmed.

Brows will usually fade 30-50% the first time round, and shrink slightly, which is why they can look stronger than you want when they're initially done. You're seeing the ink in open, irritated skin and over the first 7 days, your skin will heal over the top of the tattoo, dulling and softening it.

As usual, my client came back much more confident in the process, knowing how much the brows would soften, so we went a little heavier at the 6 week top up 🥰 it's soooo common for clients to come back missing that initial definition - but that's why the top up is really important as if you're like this client, and want to start off softer and build up the result at the second session, you have this option so you don't scare yourself away from the service too much 😂

Machine hairstrokes - 14 month refresh for Summer! 🌞 Sooo pleased with how crisp these hairstrokes turned out 🤤

Last year, when we first did Summer's brows, I actually found it really difficult to get her mapping spot on❗her left brow naturally sits a smidge higher, is denser, and the muscle/brow bone is more curved on that side. You can't tell from just looking at her lovely face, but as soon as I started putting straight lines on there, I could tell I'd have more adjusting on that side to do!

It is SO natural for our face (and even our whole body) to not be symmetrical, and without trying to give anyone a complex, I always let clients know during the mapping stage why I'm doing certain things if it means it'll counteract the brows looking uneven due to natural differences. HOWEVER, whilst doing this, we also need to consider the fact that we want to remove as little brow hair as possible, so sometimes minor asymmetries are going to be present for everything to work and blend together ✨

FINALLY posting pics of my gorgeous gal 💜💚💜 we did Dani's brows back in Feb & topped them up in April. She LOVES a stronger, thicker brow - you can't see it but Dani's hair is half blonde, half dark brown - so the contrast between her brows and hair suits her so well 🥰

At the top up I made the hairstrokes thicker (widthways) as they shrank a little the first time round. The top up is great for assessing stuff like this as it allows us to revise bits I know will heal better using a different needle / ink / healing method etc 🥳

Great example to show how brows can fade over the 6 weeks before your top up 🌞

Brows tend to shrink slightly as they heal, and lose some of the initial warmth, which is contributed from irritation and warmth in the ink (which your skin then heals over to neutralise).

Most clients will find that even a bold brow will settle and soften a lot the first time - at the top up, we can then keep it softer if you like the healed result OR go back to something bolder.

After the top up, the second layer of ink stays stronger in the skin - imagine painting a wall - the first layer might be a bit weak and patchy, and the second layer looks a lot more consistent.

This is a great example to show that some clients are super lucky and their work will hold for a long time before needing a refresh. Some clients (like myself) aren't so lucky and their brows will fade significantly within a year or so, and need a refresh a lot sooner.

What a difference these brows have made for lovely Maggie! We started off with just hairstrokes, which will lighten and shrink slightly over the healing period. She's back in about 8 weeks for the top up which I'm looking forward to, as I'll be able to create a bit more depth for her 🫶🏻

I opted for machine hairstrokes as I felt microblading wouldn't be as suitable for her skin - but I'll be able to assess in 8 weeks to see what other tweaks we may need to 😃

It's been a while since I broke my feed up with something different, and I realised a lot of my new clients don't know what I look like when they turn up for their appointments 🫢 so... hello! This is a goofy picture of me taken at Leeds Tattoo Convention last weekend waving at the (who I feel is the) official tattooist photographer

I've been doing cosmetic tattooing since mid 2017 after starting my training at the very end of 2016. Since then I've carried on with advanced learning by taking extra courses to learn new techniques and keep up with the fast evolving world of permanent make up.

I work with some amazing tattooists at - the studio is owned by and we are based in Farsley, Leeds, West Yorkshire 🩷 I'm originally from Southport (near Liverpool), but have lived in Yorkshire for about 10 years now I think 🤯

I love to work with clients of all ages so I can tailor the process to the individual. I hate to rush, so you won't be with me for a short time (not sorry), and always like to be transparent about what we can achieve for you. I feel I'm pretty versatile although I do feel I have developed my own style over the past 7 years, and don't believe that every 'spmu artist' is built the same - you should look for the person whose work you like the most because we can't all do what each other does!

Covering forcyde spots & creating an overall more consistent lip colour for my client 🩷

The colour freshly tattooed will still heal lighter, but we wanted to match her natural inner lip colour so we knew it would look natural on her and work with her skin tone. This is my favourite thing to do for clients who want a natural result that won't be too noticeable once healed.

Lip top up for .tattoos 🧡 Abi wanted to achieve a really warm orange/brown tone - absolutely no pink ❌

First session I needed to warm her lips up a little and get a more even tone throughout (swipe to see pic 3 before & healed after 1 session). Once I had a more consistent base, we changed the colour to a really warm orange (pic 2).

Although these look really saturated freshly done, and you'd not think the ink I used was as orange as shown in pic 2, Abi's lips are healing really well and I'll be able to get a healed picture soon ✨

Just remember... The colour in the ink pot won't look the same when applied to your lips, as your lips will be irritated initially and will look redder than the final result. Go for something a bit brighter than you actually want so your results are more obvious. Lips lose about 30-50% of colour, so anything too similar to your own lips won't make much of a difference (unless you want undetectable results).

Lips always look darker/redder at first from the irritation but fade down around 30-40% to leave more pink tones (unless we are going more orange/coral of course).

These lips were sorta tricky because there was a lot of texture, and some old titanium still present around the lip line (the white border you can see on the bottom lip - previous work not done by me). Potentially a small bit of scarring too from a heavy hand.

Even though the heal wasn't as consistent as I'd like it to be after the first session, especially on some of the old ink residue, it was a big improvement and the top up has helped tons 💋
