A few updates: My audiovisual composition 'Estuaries 4' has been programmed for the Musicacoustica Hangzhou Festival, China, which runs Sep 24-29 at the Zhejiang Conservatory of Music.

'Estuaries 4' has been programmed for the Sound/Image Festival 2024 at University of Greenwich in November (8-10), where I will also present my audiovisual installation work 'Traces, Molten' and a paper on 'Estuaries 4'. Hope to see some of you there!

John Young will launch two new compact discs at the 2024 DMU Cultural Exchanges Festival, in PACE Studio 1, 28 February, 2024 at 5-6pm (Richmond Street, Leicester, LE2 7BQ).

Il primo concerto acusmatico di domenica 18 è costituito da una selezione di 6 opere provenienti dal centro di ricerca Music & Technology, De Montfort University a Leicester (Regno Unito), una delle aggregazioni più attente alla pratica acusmatica del nostro tempo, grazie al Prof. 𝗟𝗲𝗶𝗴𝗵 𝗟𝗮𝗻𝗱𝘆, compositore e importante teorico delle arti elettroacustiche.
Le opere scelte sono composte da:
👉 𝗣𝗲𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗕𝗮𝘁𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗿, sound artist specializzato in paesaggi sonori e installazioni site-specific;
👉 𝗗𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝗛𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗱, compositore elettroacustico;
👉 𝗩𝗶𝗿𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗲 𝗩𝗶𝗲𝗹, visual artist e compositrice elettroacustica;
👉 𝗝𝗼𝗵𝗻 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗴, compositore di opere acusmatiche multicanale e opere radiofoniche di grandi dimensioni;
👉 𝗝𝗮𝗺𝗲𝘀 𝗔𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗮𝗻, sound artist, improvvisatore e compositore elettroacustico;
👉 𝗥𝗼𝗯𝗶𝗻 𝗣𝗮𝗿𝗺𝗮𝗿, media artist di fama internazionale e ricercatore in psicoacustica, sintesi audio, radiofonia e registrazioni di campo.

In advance of this evening’s concert, guest speaker Eva Sidén talks about her work performing contemporary piano music in new contexts, across art forms and integrating digital technologies. Eva has developed an artistic concept for concert installations which combine music, sound and visuality, as well as acoustic instruments and electronics spatialized in specially created rooms.

Monday November 28th: visit from guest musicians Cat Hope and Decibel
Seminar: 1.30 – 3.00 PACE Studio 1 Cat Hope and Decibel New Music Ensemble

As part of UK|Australia Season, Decibel visit the UK for the first time, on a tour including performances at Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival and Café Oto in London. At this seminar, Cat Hope will present their work developing novel approaches to digital notation and performance, including the development of animated music notation with the Decibel ScorePlayer App for iPad. The talk will be illustrated by live music from members of Decibel.
Decibel are world leading interpreters of graphic notations and innovative digital score formats for creating music. While rooted in western art music tradition, Decibel aim to remove stylistic boundaries in their commissioning and performance approaches.
