Stoptober is a national 28 day smoke free challenge during which smokers are encouraged to quit during the month of October.

The reasoning behind the 28 smoke free days is the statistic that if you can quit smoking for 28 days, you are 5 times more likely to give up for good.

On Friday we bid a sad farewell to our dental nurse Lucy. Lucy started at the practice 5 years ago as a trainee dental nurse and went from strength to strength to complete her nursing qualification and become a skilled and essential member of our team. Lucy filled a vital role at the practice and we will miss her friendly face! We wish her the best of luck for her new role at a specialist practice in Newcastle and have no doubts she will be an asset to our colleagues up North.

Today our amazing dental nurse Sarah Robinson has handed over a cheque for over £10,000 to the staff at the Robert Ogden Suite at the Friarage Northallerton!
The money donated for Sarah’s charity headshave a few weeks ago will continue to provide vital support and services to thousands of patients and their families. Sarah's initial fundraising target was £1000, so she has well and truly smashed her target and we are all so proud of her!

Today marks the start of National Smile Month 2024 which is running under the theme of Love Your Smile.

- Brush teeth for two minutes, last thing at night and one other time during the day, with fluoride toothpaste.

Today marks World Oral Health Day. The campaign aims to empower people with knowledge, tools and confidence to secure good oral health.

Oral diseases are a major health concern for many countries and negatively impact people throughout their lives. Oral diseases lead to pain and discomfort, social isolation and loss of self-confidence. They are often linked to other serious health issues.

The 2024 campaign focuses on 'A Happy Mouth is a Happy Body'. This is not just a sayin, its a FACT. The health of our mouth relates to our overall well being. From reducing risks of heart disease to managing diabetes, good oral hygiene is key to a healthier life. Our team aim to educate our patients on how to maintain a healthy mouth and help to prevent oral diseases.

This morning, our Hygienist Kelly and Oral Health Educator Sandra visited Leyburn Primary School. Our practice team volunteer their time and knowledge to help educate children on good oral hygiene techniques and tooth friendly diets! lt is very beneficial to get into good oral health habits at a young age to prevent dental disease.
