Our studio is currently relocating, and we are saddened to be leaving our current location as we value our local community and their patronage. However, we are committed to remaining local and are awaiting confirmation on new premises. We will provide updates on this as soon as possible. In light of these changes, we have decided it is necessary to temporarily close the studio. We have intricate equipment and setup that must be safely removed, customers' artwork must be properly dried and fired, and the studio must be emptied out. Our plan is to reopen in time for the upcoming half-term in February. Further information will be provided as it becomes available.
We have already contacted most of our existing bookings, but we are continuing to reach out to any we may have missed throughout the weekend. If you have not heard from us, please email us at [email protected] with your inquiry and contact details, and we will respond as soon as possible.
WE WILL BE CLOSING THIS SUNDAY (21ST JANUARY) AT 3:30PM
For those who participated in last weekend's event, your items are now available for collection. You may drop by this weekend to pick them up, or we can hold them for you until we reopen. If you have any concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us at [email protected].
Thank you to all our customer bookings who have been more than supportive and kind, this week while rescheduling their appointments. This is an extremely sad and stressful time for our staff, who have worked tirelessly to make this transition as smooth as possible.
Love

UNDERGLAZE IN POTTERY 🏺
What is underglaze? Underglaze refers to coloured decoration applied to pottery before the final glaze. It allows artists to create intricate designs, patterns, and images on ceramic pieces.
How is it applied? Underglazes can be painted, sponged, dipped, or stencilled onto the clay surface, depending on the desired effect.
What colours are available? Underglazes come in various colours, including opaque, translucent, and metallic finishes.
Firing process: The pottery is bisque fired to set the underglaze, and then the final glaze is applied. The piece is fired again to achieve the desired finish.
Versatility: Underglazes can be used on various types of pottery, including functional wares and decorative items like sculptures or tiles.
Surface effects: Different application techniques and firing conditions produce various surface effects, such as bold lines, soft washes, or textured finishes.
Join us at The Little Pottery Studio to explore the world of underglaze and unleash your creativity!
