And the face of an owner who has just smelt it 🤢
Just a little check in to thank everyone for their patience. I am a little behind with admin atm, but I aim to be caught up by tomorrow evening.
What a wonderful, varied day today. Starting at 6:30 am, going from teaching to seeing some of my faves for their physio sessions, back to teaching, PT, and back to physio clients.
I didn't have time to change before seeing Moo 🐮 hence the gym clothes. 🤣 She loves our head snuggles 💕
Cup of tea time now 😌
Hi everyone ☺️
I am catching up with admin tomorrow afternoon
I need more hours in the day ⏳️
Thanks you for your patience 🙏
Hi everyone ☺️
I have several outstanding payments from the past few weeks. If these could be paid swiftly, thanks.
And just a reminder to please keep on top of your bookings.
▪︎ I am unable to hold open appointment slots if you do not attend that time or day regularly.
▪︎ You have 24hrs to accept and confirm a day and time, otherwise they will be offered to someone else.
▪︎ And please remember that hydrotherapy and physiotherapy are not just a one off session. Yes it's great if you see an immediate improvement, but please do not stop the treatment that is helping. Both modalities have their short and long term effects/benefits.
Hi everyone ☺️
I am having some much needed down time this weekend. Still surrounded by animals though, or course. 🤣 I wouldn't have it any other way.
I will catch up on all messages and other admin on Monday.
Have a good weekend 🌞

Hydrotherapy has many benefits and is a useful tool in the rehabilitation of animals with a variety of orthopaedic problems, post-operative recovery, ease arthritis, increase mobility, weight loss, and fitness.
Short-term benefits of hydrotherapy include:
° Reducing pain
° Increasing sensory perception
° The relaxation of muscle tension and spasm
° An increase in the active range of motion of the joints through increased flexion and extension of the limbs
° Reduction of swelling in limbs
° Improving heart function
Long-term benefits of hydrotherapy include:
° An increase in joint range of movement
° Increased muscle strength
° Decreased pain and inflammation
° The earlier return to normal function and the SLOWING of progression of degenerative disease processes with an improvement in the quality of life
Hydrotherapy can also be used for fitness and as an aid to weight.

SAFETY AND HYGIENE
💧 Water checks are carried out regularly throughout the day, ensuring the water quality is optimum.
💧 Every dog is fitted with either a harness or a life jacket before entering the water.
💧 No dog is permitted to enter the pool without myself, a fully qualified hydrotherapist with several years of experience.
💧 Toys and balls can be played with on the ramp, but dogs are discouraged from scooping the toys off the surface of the water while swimming. This is due to the possibility of water intoxication and secondary drowning when too much water is taken on board.
💧 Every session is controlled and tailored to each individual dog.
💧 The water temperature is typically set between 29-30 degrees, which is the optimum temperature to help soothe stiff joints and encourage relaxation.
As with physiotherapy, 1 session doesn't fix all. For lifelong conditions such as arthritis and degenerative conditions such as CDRM, hydrotherapy will slow the progression, help keep the animal comfortable by reducing pain, and strengthen their muscles to support their compromised joints.
To reep the long-term hydrotherapy should be a regular part of your dogs overall care.

*Please always do your research before choosing a hydrotherapy centre/hydrotherapist
Not all places that claim to offer hydrotherapy have the qualified staff or experience.
It's not the most glamorous of jobs...but I do get to kiss all the boys 😘
Myself and Ray would like to gently remind everyone to keep on top of their appointments 🙂
Consistency is key! Whether it be for rehabilitation, or the maintenance and management of degenerative conditions, please do not discontinue the treatment that is helping.
Hi everyone ☺️
As many of you know, to progress towards deepening my understanding of the musculoskeletal relationship between and rider I decided to complete my level 3 personal training.
My latest video is about hip mobility, and how this can impact our riding, and affect our horses movement underneath us.
Why don't you give this a go and test your hip mobility.
I think I am being followed 👀
I hope everyone is enjoying their rainy bank holiday weekend. Just the 1 day off for me 🤣 and even that will be spend working behind the scenes on something I am launching in June...
This 👏
Please read through this post. It perfectly sums up something I have never been able to put into words before.
Our job isn't easy!!
It's those that claim to know everything, or to be better than the therapist stood next to them, it's these people who are not the expert. A real expert doesn't claim to know everything.
Vets don’t know everything....
I hear this so much on my travels and you can insert any equine professional (EP) into this sentence. It is often assumed that because the EP is being paid, they should know the exact answer immediately.
Aside from the fact that horses are complex sentient beings and a multitude of both physical and emotional challenges can arise at once, there are some other challenges also facing the EP during their assessment.
The EP has trained for many years for the very niche role they are in. Whether it be vet, farrier, nutritionist, chiropractor, vet physio, saddle fitter...the list goes on. Not many of these subjects are going to stand you in good stead in a pub quiz, but the knowledge these EPs have around these subjects is deep and, following years of training, has now also been reinforced by experience.
Imagine having the answer to a problem written on a piece of paper. Let’s take ‘arthritis’ for example. It goes into a bowl with 6 other pieces of paper. Your average lay person/non-EP will find it easier to select the piece of paper with arthritis on because there are only 6 other pieces of paper in the bowl.
When your EP comes to the bowl, due to their extensive knowledge of each condition and any other associated issues, the bowl now has over 100 other pieces of paper in. these pieces of paper represent the extensive knowledge and experience the EP has from their years of training. The EP must sift through these other pieces of paper/knowledge in order to find you an answer.
The truth is, with horses you are very rarely going to end up taking just one piece of paper out of that bowl. This is where the experience of the EP can appear to hinder them whilst they sift through it all in a short space of time.
Is it just ‘arthritis’ or is the horse also dealing with:
-poor shoeing
-inappropriate diet
-stomach ulcers
-suspensory issues
-saddle fit
-dental issues
And which is causing the biggest problem to the horse?
Please be kind when you turn around 10 minutes into an appointment and ask ‘well, what’s wrong then?’
It is not because your EP doesn’t know. They are trying to sift through all the knowledge they have to give you the best answer. Also please remember that there is rarely just one!
There's worse things to get up early for on a Saturday morning 🌄
Would you like to see my bally 🥎
I hope you have all had a lovely Bank Holiday.
Apologies, I am VERY behind with messages and appointment bookings. I was hoping to catch up this weekend, but I have been working 2 out of the 3 Bank Holiday days. I aim to be caught up by Wednessay with everything.
🙂
Client review 😌
I have had a few people recently ask me how to leave a review on my page. Due to the new business page layout and setup, I am unsure myself. But if anybody has the answer, please let me know 🤣
Please could all outstanding payments from last week and this week be paid.
Thank you.

How often should I get my horse treated❓

Although we live in a society of one off quick fixes, this is false economy for your animals.
The answer...ultimately it is down to each individual case.
However...
As a very rough guide...
This is not set in stone..
Things can change...
This is not gospel...

🔹For a new client, your horse may need a close succession of 2-4 sessions to iron out any issues before moving onto maintenance sessions.
🔹For a horse that is in regular work and has no underlying pathologies, and you have no concerns, I recommend every 3 months. This is known as maintenance to keep on top of any issues before they develop further.
🔹For a horse with a known underlying condition may need seeing more often to keep them pain free, mobile, and prevent/slow further degeneration.
🔹For a horse that has been out of work or just doing ground work, it is worth getting them checked before you start ridden work. The same goes for increasing workload.
🔹 It is also a good idea to have your horse seen before getting your saddle checked. Otherwise your saddles new adjustments will be fitted to the current 'issues'.
🔹In addition if you notice even the smallest change in your horses behaviour, this could indicate some discomfort. So it is worth booking in before it leads to you boinging around the arena pretending to be in your first rodeo.

It should be noted a physio and every other therapist, should never work beyond their scope of practice. If we are suspicious of an underlying pathology, we will recommend you seek veterinary advice. ONLY A VET CAN DIGANOSE. Also if there has been no improvement after 3-4 sessions, again we will point you in the direction of your vet. Once a diagnosis has been made, we can then give a more appropriate treatment for their issue, and work towards improving/maintaining them.
