On Friday night, I had the pleasure of helping to organise and then attend the Lisburn Chamber of Commerce Annual Dinner 2024, this year being held in the Ballymac Hotel. With music provided by Highway 56 and The Allstars, we danced into the early hours.

It's a great way to network with other local businesses and associations, and keep pushing Lisburn to become its best. And of course to meet with friends old and new and have a night away from shop work.

Well not just yet, but tonight 😬 The shop will be closing at 4pm today to allow the team to attend the High Street Heroes awards ceremony in Belfast this evening. We're hoping to bring the trophy for Best Independent Homeware Retailer back to Lisburn 🤞

I have just posted the following in our local Lisburn page, but I think I should share it here too.

As a local business owner in Lisburn, I am every day disheartened by the negativity shown towards the city centre, whether in person or through various social media platforms. EVERY town and city centre is struggling, but we need to support the people and businesses that fight to remain. Members of your community and further afield, who come into the city centre daily to provide the shops, the hospitality and the services used by local residents.

Many (but not all) of the Lisburn businesses are independents - local people providing local services, offering jobs to the local community and supporting local clubs and charities. And I can safely say that we all work damn hard to keep our businesses open with rising costs on a monthly basis.

But we need your support. That may be through spending in our premises, tagging local businesses in social posts to increase advertising or simply just being more positive about Lisburn in general. Stop the constant "there's nothing in Lisburn" and instead talk about what is here. As I said to a customer today who made just that comment, "You are welcome to visit my imaginary shop any time".

And just to show how little Lisburn has, here is a list of the 40+ businesses within Bow Street Mall alone. Feel free to share, tag these businesses (and others in the city centre) or your friends, or even pop in to see what each business has to offer.
And finally, a HUGE THANKYOU to all our customers and staff. Without you we would not exist, and we need you all to be able to continue.

So next step is the final in Belfast City Hall on 21st August 🤞 where we'll be going head to head against the other two finalists W & J Walker and Wardens, and will hopefully be bringing the 🏆 back to .
