Sunday Sewcial is our new get together as Sundays are a funny one and if you are on your own come and sew, make new friends, drink tea and get happy. Full day or a half day it’s no problem .

But seriously, when you look at this what do you think?

I’m like wow, I’m surprised any of us survived 🤷‍♀️

Things really were very different.

Smoking was still a very normal thing to do, the evidence of how bad it was only just starting to really be known.

Bottle feeding in the 70s was, for a while at least the suggested way to feed your baby for convenience, as manufactured formulas taking over from the usual evaporated milk with some corn syrup or sugar added.

Oh and furnishings were also in their beige wooden era.

So much has changed in the last 40-50 years some good, some definitely not.

What’s the biggest change you think of?

And was it good?

Or, something we tried that we are now turning away from?

I feel like processed foods fall into that category. My generation definitely grew up on the convenience era and there seems to be a health price tag with that directing us back to more natural, whole foods.

Someone else on Twitter looked into the story and indeed, the town that Andros Company, the makers of Bonne Maman, comes from, hid and saved Jewish families in WW2. It was called Biars sur Cere, which then had about 800 villagers.
From an article, “You have to understand what it was like then. There were posters on the walls, from the N***s and from the collaborators, and they said that if you are found to help a Jew, a freemason, a communist, a socialist, or a pervert, you will be shot on sight.” Despite the great danger in which helping them put the villagers in, still they kept the children safe.”
