Latest pen commissions are this Spalted beech Sirocco and Swiss Pear and Wild Mango Keats pens.

Latest commission to be posted to customer today are these 5 Etesia pens in cross cut Zebrano wood.

Two bowls finished and off to a customer tomorrow. These are in Burl Sycamore from my own garden and Spalted beech. Finished in board oil so food safe.

Just finished my first mallet made from an old Lignum Vitae crown green bowls ball. Nothing other than sanded to 600 grit and micro mesh pads. The handle is in sapele finished with sanding sealer. It’s a beautiful piece of wood…..not sure wether to keep this one or sell it as I have 5 more balls left to make others. If anyone is interested in purchasing one feel free to message me. Might make a nice present for someone who likes quality hand made tools, a carpenter, stone mason etc.
This weighs in at 1.2kg or 2lb 10oz.

Just bought 6 Lignum Vitae bowls for making mallet heads. Never made one before. Anyone got advice, guidance or examples please. TIA Neil

Has anyone got any ideas on how to make a wooden decanter? I made some wooden whisky beakers a while back for a whisky fanatic mate and he’s asked if I could make a decanter…I’ve not got a hollowing tool (yet!)…just wondering if anyone out there has made anything similar

I finished this Manager fountain pen just in time as a gift for the fantastic who we met up with in London prior to him completing the London Marathon a few weeks back. A fantastic effort having overcome a few injuries weeks before the big day.

Latest commission was a pair of Keats ballpoint pens in cherry. The wood was from a wedding dinner centre piece. It was very dry with a few tiny holes here and there so used a CA finish to consolidate the wood and they came up lovely. Some fantastic colours and grain in the cross cut sections.

Parachute jump for Papyrus (Prevention of Young Su***de, a uk based charity) done and dusted a couple of weeks ago at the Such an amazing experience to free fall for 1 minute from 15,000ft at 150mph! I was recently asked to make a prize for a school chess competition so made this. King piece is in Holly, base in Wenge. The holly was lovely to turn and perfect for a chess piece. Both finished in friction polish.

Pokeball number 2…much easier drilling the hole and infilling the inlay before turning it. Woods are Maple, Bocote, Padauk and a tiny piece of Beech in the centre. Going to make a few more if anyone wants to preorder one. Final sizes may vary, this is about 72mm diameter.

Had a fantastic meal from in Mossley Hill last night. Food was delicious and staff were very friendly too, even got a free desert! Would highly recommend.

My Tanglewood acoustic had a lovely fret clean, polish and restring curtesy of in Liverpool, UK. Definitely recommend him if you need a guitar servicing or setting up.

No commissions for a while and then you get a few at once… this was a leaving present for someone who’s moving on to new challenges. It’s a workshop pencil in London Plane, the tree was in Dovedale Rd, just off Penny Lane in Liverpool and came down in a storm last year. Phil used to live there when he was younger so it seemed like the logical choice of wood

Waiting for the Sarah Millican gig in Liverpool…can’t wait 😂😂.

Not posted any pens in a while and this was my latest commission. It’s a Leveche rollerball in Spanish Olive wood. It’s a stunning piece of wood and the gun metal finish sets it off beautifully. I’m still open to commissions if anyone needs something bespoke for gifts…it will soon be Christmas 😜.

Latest commission was for a his and hers matching pair of Keats ballpoint pens in chrome. These are segmented blanks with 12 different woods, all hand sanded, glued, turned and finished with several coats of shellac friction polish. They will be off to their new owners soon.

Latest commission was for four whisky tumblers in different woods, L to R clockwise are cherry, oak, sapele and iroko. All sealed with food safe mineral oil. These are hand turned using gouges and each one is unique.

Last couple of Christmas orders of pens to deliver today… a Leveche rollerball in bocote and a Mistral Fountain Pen in silver birch burr. Merry Christmas to everyone, all the best.

Latest seam ripper or stitch un-picker is in silver birch burr/burl curtesy of who got in touch last summer to ask if I wanted any pieces from a large tree they were taking down. This is the first piece I’ve used and it is stunning. Finished with friction polish. Not sure if the gold or chrome looks better🤔. It’s for sale if anyone would like it, message me if interested
