Hey everyone it's been a while since I’ve got personal so thought I do a re-introduction post.

🔸My name is Jenny and I am a scouser from Liverpool, England.🇬🇧

🔸I have over 12 years of experience in graphic design, six years of them spent in educational courses at college and university.🧑🏽‍🎓

🔸I am that person who loves to read books, complete a 1000-piece jigsaw puzzle, and sudokus.🧩

🔸My go-to Netflix genre is Action/ Thrillers, I have seen the Prison Break series three times. 🎬

🔸I also like to watch sports such as tennis, the Olympics and football, I love going to Anfield to support my Liverpool football team. (it’s not soccer👀)

🔸I have three brothers and three sisters. Auntie Jen to three nieces and two nephews.💘

🔸I am a hearing aid user and I plan to educate my followers on deaf awareness.🦻🏼

🔸I spent my Wednesday evenings at a night school doing Level 2 British Sign Language.🫶🏼

🔸I love dogs, I take my sister's dog Buddy on daily walks, they help me clear my head after spending most of the day at the desk.🐶

🔸I hate coffee, bacon, and popcorn, pineapple belongs on pizza, I love building flatpacks, I can’t blow balloons, I am not a morning person, I drink far too much tea, and those who drink the entire cup without leaving any at the bottom give me the ick.🤢

Safe to say I am not the usual girly girl and that’s okay. I would be surprise if I find anything common with my followers if we do please comment😂🧡

Also I disagree on charging the assets as a singular fee. I have done this format to prioritise my time and be realistic about what can get done at a day rate. So I decided to set each asset in tokens, that way you can have my full attention for either the half-day rate or the full-day rate. 🪙

As this is not my main service and it will not always be available but I do plan to have 1-2 spaces each month when possible. I didn’t realise how long ago since I last posted work on social media until I had to check back how to make a carousel post.💀

🎙️Gia and Eve have been best friends since college, one-night they randomly decided they should start a podcast. As they have so many topics they like to discuss and stories to tell!🎙️

I initially knew I wanted the ampersand ‘&’ to make the statement in this branding. As I looked at the competitors through the Spotify podcast category this is where I knew it could make Gia & Eve stand out. I had this idea as Gia and Eve business is purely for podcast purposes is to portray what symbolises a podcast into the ampersand. With a long search and luck I came across the solution thanks to Saintjean! I then played around with the typefaces and merged the letter G from another typeface as the original letter was not cutting it. I am happy with how it turned out. Simple but leaves a lasting impression right?🤌🏽

This project was a breeze to work on as I would like to work on more digital and service based businesses along with product-based.

I KNEW TO EMBRACE IT I HAD TO SHARE IT.💫

I have been back and forth with my confidence as a deaf person. I have moved to three primary schools. Got held back a year. I then grew confident in high school then in my final year I had to move schools again resulting in me hiding my deafness all over again right through college. I then gained confidence again in University which was life-changing as I had to have my hair up for tennis as I joined a Sports and Society club. So as you can tell I have had a tough time embracing my hearing aids. I just know the younger me will be kicking herself that I am living a 10-year-old dream right now running my own business doing design and learning BSL.

To this day I have still not come across a deaf person that runs their own business, if anyone knows of anyone hit me up! 💜

This has been an unfinished content of mine for months. It’s hard to minimise your design journey when Art literally been my life, everything I’ve done in my life has took me to this moment.

Hey there long time no see!👋🏼 I thought I’d share some facts about me.🤍

9 Lessons I’ve learned being self-employed for 12 months👀

Lesson #1 Discovering how many hats you wear!
If you think running a design business you get to just design work, think again! Wow I have learned so much such as admin, bookkeeping, sales, marketing, documents you need - literally how much goes behind the scenes of running a business.

Lesson #2 How important it is to set boundaries.
Remember you run your business not let it run you and setting healthy boundaries will remind you of this. I love boundaries, I love reminding people to have boundaries *hint my sister*.

Lesson #3 Realising I need to become more personal online.
I have struggled with being open on social media, not knowing how to express myself. I am always intrigued by what anyone is like behind their social media. I also know it helps potential clients to gain trust. This is one of my goals for 2023 to improve massively.

Lesson #4 To stop taking rejection personally.
I learned the hard way this last year about rejections. Best way to look at it is that they weren’t meant to be. Also every rejection is a step closer to the right dreamy client. The big one is definitely do not take it personally.

Lesson #5 How much I suck at being consistent.
There’s not much to say here. I can’t promise anything.

Lesson #6 Don’t follow trends, they are short-lived.
Be a trendsetter not a follower. Remember attention spans are shortening and if you're going through using the same font phase etc as everyone else how else are you going to stand out?

Lesson #7 Concentrate on problem-solving not deliverables.
Concentrate on what you can help them with rather than prioritise what they will receive. Clients obviously come to you because they have a problem, so help them solve it.

Lesson #8 To raise my prices!
I was definitely underestimating myself with 10 years of design experience and a design degree. My highest price in January isn’t even my lowest price now that how low it was!

Lesson #9 NO MARKETING = NO CLIENTS.
I wish I knew this one sooner! I read an amazing book on marketing recently and it has changed my insight and mindset massively!

A year ago I officially became self-employed. Oh heck it has been one hell of 12 months of trial and error! I am just so glad I took this leap and followed my dream and I am just enjoying the journey by doing things at my own pace. Look out for my contents next week to see what I learned running a business for a year. This next 12 months is where you will see huge improvement and results on why I am the go-to designer.

Over five years I go when I was at university I questioned my lecturer about my grade. I quickly asked why did I get a higher grade than a fellow student who did more work than me? She simply said ‘Quality over Quantity’. That quote has stuck with me ever since. 🤍

Some of my quality over quantity takes:

🌶️ You rather have a few friends that add value to your life than loads of friends.

🌶️ You rather work on a reasonable amount of amazing projects a year than rush a project daily.

🌶️ You rather have less followers that include potential clients/customers following you right? Than being obsessive with your followers count. Numbers mean nothing. Those with 50k followers still struggle to get clients/customers.

🌶️ You rather spend more money on a longer lasting branding than a cheap logo that you can easily afford to rebrand next week. Buy cheap, buy twice. 👀

🌶️ You rather work on one branding concept than spread yourself with a few concepts that wouldn’t get the quality and full attention as one.

🌶️ You rather have one loyal customer than loads of customers that don’t value your service.
